I'm usually a pessimist when it comes to me teams (stupid Dodgers). But I'm excited for this upcoming season. I'm not expecting a ring. But I know we will be feisty and giving the Dubs fits. With a little luck we can maybe get deep in the dance.

Hopefully Bonga pans out, but seeing how the Knicks chose Robinson at 36, I'm still wondering if we thought he would continue to slide to us at 39.

Either way, our draft scouts are the real MVPs.

That’s a pretty nice list. Our only real miss is with hindsight Russell over Booker, and maybe Zo over Tatum, maybe, we’ll see.

A lot of teams missed on Booker; at the time Russell was the correct pick and still got out of us of the Mosgov deal that created cap space to land 2 Max FA's.

We'll have to see on Zo...but I'll leave that discussion for another time.

Kuzma makes up for it, though, for now...LOL.

There really isn't a bad pick on that list. Russell might actually be the worst one but that pick turned into Kuzma when the Lakers traded him. Booker is a nice player but he isn't transcendent. He will be a great scorer but that's about it. Tatum is the right pick right now over Ball, but we do not know if that's the right pick for the future. If Ball gets a decent jump shot and can play through pain, he will end up being the right guy because the Lakers already have enough wing players.

Even Anthony Brown wasn't a bad pick in the 2nd round. 2nd round is crap shoot.

This is the value of young talent. It’s why it’s hard to trade it away for the unknown, hard to replace that production at that price.

    What is known:
showing out for summer league is different than the regular season/postseason
    35 wins last year
Young players on team friendly deals make for great trade assets
Kawhi's a NBA champ, Finals MVP, 2x Defensive player of the year, 4x all team defense

    Unknowns:
    Our youth's true potential
    Kawhi's injury

Kawhi is a known you need to get on your team one way or another and there are ways to protect yourself from injury concerns (see Parker/Lavine, Embiid deals). We also wasted Kob's couple remaining prime years with the previous FO's ineptitude. You can't do that with Bron, cause as we've seen, free agency isn't a given for LA...cause there are alot of skirts posing as men in this sport.

Either way... We're in great position. We got the leverage in a trade. We have the youth that can ball out playing off Bron this year. We have the cap to max out a baller next summer. But we can get complacent... Remain aggressive in getting a title contending team.

To be serious, I’m not opposed to trading for Kawhi at all, the only unknown I’m talking about is his health. I think if we could KNOW he were back to his full old self, I wouldn’t hesitate to trade for him because everything you said is true, he was a top 3 NBA player 2 seasons ago. BUT, if we are sticking with the youth for now, what I posted remains true, incedible value found by our staff at picks 27, 30, and 47.

Don't forget about that uncle, no assurances Kawhi doesn't pull what he's doing with the Spurs with a future team. A man who turns down $219 million could do anything wild out there.

To add to what you said... I'm not even disagreeing with you at all homie. A title team needs vets on team friendly deals to add to our depth.

The crazy thing is our "rookies/sophomores" are 21-24 and have that "vet" experience playing 3-4 years in programs that go deep into the tourney and compete for NCAA titles.

Our Youngns are technically vet min guys on a title contending team, so standing pat and adding a world beater like Kawhi is ideal! It just sucks that we're sitting on 33 yr old Bron and not 28 yr old Bron, limiting our window to exploit his prime.
