We better not offer the farm again for AD.

I don't even think AD is worth all of that...the fact that he couldn't lead this Pelicans team to the playoffs is just as bad as LeBron not leading this Lakers team to the playoffs, except the Pelicans didn't have significant injuries to their best players until Jrue Holiday went down a couple weeks ago.

If you're going to trade for AD, I say you trade one of the kids and the pick...not 2, not 3 of them, and certainly not ALL of them.

Let's at least see where we end up in the draft - if we somehow jump over the Knicks in the draft, we're literally in the driver's seat.

Heck, if we win the lotto, I don't trade that pick for AD. I go and get another superstar in free agency, and then trade 2 of the 3 kids for AD while keeping the #1 pick so you preserve both the present (3 superstars in LeBron, AD and whoever we get over the summer) and the future (Zion).

THAT is how you create dynasties.

Speaking of dynasties, the Lakers past dynasties weren't created by making super teams. Our model for success is signing/trading for a big free agent and drafting our other superstar. Then filling the roster with home grown guys and solid free agents.

We signed Kareem, drafted Magic and Worthy. Also drafted Norm, Coop, Byron and AC Green. Add solid guys like Wilkes (basically home grown), Thompson, Mcadoo - boom dynasty.

Signed Shaq, Traded for Pau , drafted Kobe. Also drafted Fisher, Bynum, Farmar, Sasha, Walton. Add solid guys like Rice, Fox, Horry, Odom, Ariza, Artest - dynasty.

None of our super teams became dynasties.

    West/Chamberlin/Baylor/Goodrich ('72*)

    Payton/Malone/Kobe/Shaq

    Nash/Dwight/Kobe/Pau

This is why now with LeBron I don't see us repeating our past success if we're shipping the house for more stars. That hasn't really worked for us or for anyone else. All the recent dynasties - 80's pistons, 90's bulls, the Spurs, hell even the Warriors - had a lot of home grown talent mixed with solid FA signings. Not super teams. The Miami super team is the only exception - and it was opportunistic IMO.

No matter what we offer, NO is not trading AD to us. We should make one call, offer 2 out of the 3 kids and a pick, get rejected and move on.

NOP will absolutely be calling us if we get a top 3 pick...and I hope at that point, we hang up the phone on them like they did to us.

...because the forced trade attempt was completely tone deaf (again).

still, though...NO should have taken our offer. they're totally screwed. like, "you're selling and/or moving that franchise" screwed. we actually gave them a graceful way out. i get why they were mad, but they compounded it by being stupid.

again, doesn't excuse that we didn't learn from our previous failings with the same strategy.

My WMC tonight is the absolute only motivation I might have to check on any of the Nets game later, if at all, is to see how DLO looks.

I’m sooooo done with the front office signing a bunch of one year deals to players so they can have cap space to sign a max player. We need to build a real team that has played multiple years together. Denver only has one superstar, Utah has one young marquee player, portland has one star and good second player. All in the playoffs. Even if we do sign another max player we still have to fill out the roster with scrubs who haven’t played together.
Also, some coaching would help too. Ugh.

The other day I joked about the Lakers org, being the top class franchise in the history of the league, needing to have if not the top, then some of the top people in every area in their employ, from the FO, the training staff, down to the floor moppers. Then tonight I see the highlights of the game on SportsCenter and LeBron slips driving baseline and could easily have injured himself badly yet again. Maybe it wasn’t so much of a joke, maybe we are that much of a mess as a franchise. I don’t know what kind of hex or curse is on us right now, but 6 years in a row no playoffs, wow, and as much as we need losses to improve our draft position, seeing the highlights of how we are losing and the embarrassing fashion is depressing.

Honestly, I loved that post of yours...and I didn't even read it as a joke. I thought it was an accurate indictment of our organization.

Well I didn't as kept checking Game Time comments and DLO was doing nothing special it seemed. But I guess I missed McGee going HOF? What's up with that, I thought Jarrett Allen was the bomb and all that? So McGee has had a very up and down season for us. Probably in his FA push now as we will have some new dude at the 5 next year since he'll be too expensive and we gifted Zubac to the Clippers for a Valentine's Day present.

I know we are wanting to tank but this is sad. We need to start hiring fans to play our team.

Justin Jimenez of San Diego hit a half-court shot between the third and fourth quarters of Sunday’s Lakers-Kings game to win the $45,000 Park MGM Big Shot Jackpot. The 46-year-old is the fourth winner of the contest this season, and third since Feb. 27. The Lakers have won two games during that time. Yes, Lakers fans hit half court shots more frequently than the Lakers win games right now.
