there aren't that many teams with max room this year; i think folks are being lazy with salary predictions in the media. but maybe i'll be wrong. but in this case, these "multiple teams" would have to clear space to make the offer, which isn't a given.
EVeryone is seeing dollars that some of these foo's are getting, and want to cash in. Can't blame them, but it might not work out like they think either.
gallinari's smart to opt out. odds are, he gets hurt (again) and declines quickly. this will be his last big contract. wes matthews opted out after he tore his achilles and ended up richer. my comment was more about noel: claiming multiple teams will throw the max at him requires lots of teams a) having the max to throw (not currently true) and b) prioritizing noel (and the c position). that's why i called it lazy. to me, the FO guy can say what he wants, and the journalist should report that, but the journalist's job continues after that. there's some research to be done. i'll be surprised if noel receives a max offer from more than two teams. honestly, the only way i even see a max offer is if some hapless squad like bkn strikes out on all targets (again) and makes a hail mary RFA bid on noel later in the summer. i'll be genuinely shocked if he gets more than one max offer at 12:01, which is how the quote from the anonymous FO guy reads.
A new city and someone else's expensive house awaits him to be rented and posse trashed while he gets settled. Owner beware.
They'd have an easier time getting rid of Parker and Gasol, but I suspect they'd rather get rid of Aldridge. I just don't know how they do it. He's got an enormous deal and didn't look great this year... other teams know you're desperate. They'd have to include something good with him.
This is why Jim and Mitch deliberately sandbagged their meetings with him .... in fact did not want him here.
IF the Cavs get swept, I can realistically see LeBron initiating "Team Banana Boat".... - trade Love for Carmelo - sign and trade Chris Paul for Kyrie - Wade opts out of his current deal and signs for MLE.
