Absolutely. I'll be right there to tip my hat to him for a job well done.

i agree that if he gets lebron and george, he's proven his executive chops and then some. however, the manner in which he's pursued that goal could end up compromising the team long-term as well. thus, if our cap space yields nothing while teams without cap space (but who performed better) make the big splashes, someone should be held accountable for the strategy.

so you just simply avoid either comment, i'd think.

Sure, but he didn't. Just don't see him putting that deadline on himself otherwise.

To be honest, I don't get it why Johnson had to establish a timeline... Maybe it is not something he wants to do career wise. If Johnson does pull a coup with both James and George, he'd probably rethink his stance to stay longer.

I think he intends to stay longer.

...and the Laker organization will still be investigated for tampering. Insinuated, falsified or whatever. Someone, somewhere will dig it up or at least attempt it. I hope Johnson and Pelinka have been "clean" throughout this period.

Zero chance they have been clean. Just have to hope that there's no proof they weren't.

The complete Chris Paul trade shenanigans from last year that were impossible without pre-conversation should be thrown in Skeletor's face if it gets to that point again.

Well if you're a shareholder of a company, and if the board decided to restructure/lay off employees (Dlo, Nance) to cut losses (cap space), wouldn't you expect the GM to tell you he expects a quick turnaround (more wins = star FA), regardless of what he "knows?"

That's just Magic's confidence speaking. Him and Rob have a plan that they believe in. I see no relevance to what he "knows."

Of course I'm sure they went around the rules just like everyone else does in courting high profile free agents. Like I said and I agree with you that we can only hope they covered their trail or did nothing of the obvious. Hell then again, other parties would take something innocuous and run with it.

I would hope and expect Jeanie to finally have had enough if we were to be singled out again while ignoring what Houston did this same time last year. And as well expect her to have the BALLS to rip Silver a new one and threaten to sue over what is/are common knowledge and verifiable skeletons in the other teams' closets.

I personally think Magic is a great executive. I really don't think he is the basketball engineer behind all the moves. I more so believe that Pelinka is the guy that engineers the moves the Lakers make. Magic doesn't strike to me as someone who understands the cap too well or has extensive knowledge about players etc.

BUT....Magic paves a path and a vision and he allows his employees to excel at what they do. Delegating is probably the most required skill in his position and he is unbelievably good at delegating stuff and yet at the same time giving them a vision and a goal and being the face to deal with the outside noises. That to me is invaluable because its not about Magic being a great executive...its about the Lakers being successful and the right formula for that is what makes that executive great.

Magic deals with the media, with the pressure, he sells the franchise in public and to free agents and he allows every other part of the puzzle (Walton, Pelinka, Jesse Buss, etc.) do their job.

Well said. I believe that's something Magic touched on when he was first brought on and something he said he learned from Dr. Buss.

Magic or Pelinka also said this during the press conference the other day.

Got casual Friday’s at work where we’re allowed to wear jerseys. So tomorrow will be the last opportunity to do so until July 6th and reportedly a lot will be decided by then.

In 2010 during Game 7 against the C Bags when we were going down in the third quarter, my mom decided to borrow my Magic jersey and shortly after we started turning it around. I’ve rarely worn it since then.

Definitely gonna rock the Magic jersey tomorrow.
