Oh wow I totally forgot about this. This is actually more what it could be than anything else...

They need to keep this in play for the Spurs to think that they may need to pull the trigger on a deal wit us

Also...what would be amazing is if we are able to dump Deng, get PG and LeBron...we'll STILL have a max slot open for Kawhi for the time being...so we can coax the Spurs into trading Kawhi to us....and then we can still re-sign Randle over the cap once we trade for Kawhi.

Talk about slamming down the hammer right before free agency. Magic has talked the talk, now he has to walk the walk. In Magic (and Rob) we trust!

    A Great watch!

I posted this here and in the Rob thread because there are many great quotes from them as we all know, haha.

Stephen A seems extremely confident in Magic. Apologies for the shaky cam, recorded off my tv because I thought it was worth sharing.

Some media are saying that comment is reminiscent of Jim Buss' guarantee.

    Big difference.

Magic can walk the walk. Jim Buss was just meaningless words from a failed horse owner-trainer-Hollywood Park bar socialite-Deng-signing-cap-wearing-Rogaine®-poster-child with negative credibility.

In fact Magic needs to alter that guarantee to be: "If I don't get a major FA here THIS summer I personally guarantee that Stephen A. Smith will step down."

This is pretty much my thought on it.

I'm not buying that. Then why not put himself on a 1-year clock?

Magic is just stating the obvious. If you trade away assets like Dlo, JC, and Nance for cap space and completely strike out on free agents, you suck at your job.

Maybe he is just telling it straight and feels like if he is not getting championships asap then he doesn’t want the job. He has the Dodgers and other things to do, probably moreso than any other person in his position.

Simple. First, so as to not appear that you have insider information and make the surprise seem even greater when you homerun this summer. A lot of show is going on everywhere. Tbh I don't even think the Lakers are doing that great a job of it. Magic with his virtual guarantees, Jeanie with her tweets. No one is acting normal. Why is Paul George having this 3-part documentary? And why isn't LeBron having a 5-part documentary?

Second. Kawhi. We can have an awesome summer this and next (or next trade deadline).

Yeah, its not exactly the smartest thing to say "If I strikeout this offseason, I'm gone." and then Lebron, Paul George, and whoever else comes. If you thought people cried tampering before...

All I'm saying is that his comments mean nothing. His job is to deliver star free agents. Not to create cap space.

His comments have nothing to do with what "he knows" as that tweet points out.

I totally agree, Magic felt challenged and his competitive juices came out for better or for worse.

Magic has earned the right to say what he wants in my book. None of us knows what is going to happen. Let's find out. I do believe he'll get some things done right. Whether that happens now or next summer, we shall see. But I do have faith in Magic.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: if Magic signs Lebron and PG13, he's in Jerry West territory.

His hands were tied by MozDeng when he got here and he's made all the right moves so far.

Final stretch. Let's see what he's got. I'm very confident.

I hear you but I disagree here. There's no real reason to put a time frame on himself at all. The team is on an upward trend even if they sign no one. No real upside to calling his shot right now.

And if he just says one year then I absolutely believe we'd get investigated for tampering.
