He's taking the company line. He isn't going to say anything bad for a while as long as his boy Byron Scott is coaching.

Magic is still playing PG. Be positive when things are bad and tear into them when things are great. Keep them at an even keel.

However, when things are really bad, he'll be there to rip management. GUARANTEED!

"Kobe should be in the early MVP discussion"

Come on Magic, I love me some Kobe but that is just ridiculous. I know your doing the company line stuff, but your team has gotta win a game at least.

Neither. He's just spreading a thick line of BS over Byron's subpar coaching thus far. If it was another coach, MDA for example, he would be whining and complaining.

lol at the mvp comment. I think even kobe would say he's not playing well. mvps don't shoot sub .400 whilst doing little else on either end.

he's certainly the lakers' mvp, though! without him, they'd obviously still be 0-5, but they probably wouldn't have faced a deficit smaller than 20 after the first quarter.

I'd wondered whether Magic would continue to be as vicious to LA coaches as he has over the past few seasons. Turns out it's exactly the opposite. Lakers suuuuck on defense, but I still hold out a good deal of hope for the team.

Maybe he's just morphing into the company man so that the Buss family is more open to selling to him when Jimmy is finally done running the franchise into the ground.

Jeanie Buss last season took full control of the company from Jim Buss. She is now fully responsible for anything we do moving forward.

True, but one can understand why she's hesitant to fire her brother right away (after all, it was the Good Doctor himself who put Jimbo in this position). She's giving him a couple of years to turn this around. If she doesn't fire him after that (assuming the team is still struggling) then I'm happy to start directing my ire at her and I will be just as critical of her as I am with Jim.

That's cool. I just remind Laker fans of that because we've all come to blame Jim kind of automatically when starting this last summer it's time to point the finger at Jeanie instead.

I think some point last season Jeanie officially appointed herself as the President of the company and if that's true, then all decisions fall on her shoulders. Before that I think it was a little nebulous who was in charge and Jim seemed to be the leader. Now that the FO is taking a more legitimate shape I think it's time to direct more attention Jeanie's way if/when things continue going south for us.
