Well that's well you're wrong. Mozgov is a solid player. He proved that last season. He completely changed the way the Cavaliers played. He was instrumental for them. I'm kind of perplexed why you don't care that he's a good teammate. That's important. He's a good teammate, a good defender, much more an offensive threat then Hibbert, more mobile, and he's just a high character guy. Again when you look at same of these deals. Bazemore, Turner, Noah, those guys are at best marginally better than Mozgov. There's no way we get him for ten million.

I like signing i was allways fan of deng
I think he brings veteran experiance and he should be lockeroom leader, plus not like hibbert he can still play...
I only need to get used to every player getting kobe money...
But cant hate on this signing...
How does this affect our salary cap...how much money we have, i know it will rise again...but will we need to break bank to resign our younger players on rookie deals...and do we still have chance now to sign real star player in close future?

This doesn't effect our cap space this next season. The Lakers still will have enough to offer somebody a max deal.

I wonder if Coach K was the mediator.

Mitch - Kobe - Coach K - Deng. For Ingram.

Such a laid back greeting... :) Anywhos, I'm content with this one. A player of Deng's caliber that still has stuff in the tank with a professional approach on and off the court that will serve as a role model for our young core. I still would like a point guard to spell Kid Video. Iffy on Huertas...

I don't think the Lakers will ever get a prime, young, top 5 type player to come to LA. Might be best to get pieces that mesh with the draft picks and hope russell and ingram turn into perennial super stars.

I don't see why not. If we can win at least 30 games we probably have a decent shot at least getting an impact player. The next season by being a playoff team presumably we should have a chance to get a superstar free agent.

That seems to be the directive now and should be from here on... It will test the patience of our spoiled even entitled fan base but tough you know what.

Guys, what if we got it wrong and this whole time the phrase "No Deng No Deal" was supposed to be like "No Woman No Cry"? :D

A little hard to get my head wrapped around that much money for a player at his age, but hopefully he stays healthy and works hard to slow down any age-related decline.

But overall, great move and I'm happy to have him! Welcome to LA, Luol!

No more Vitti so I hope our training staff is up to the task of keeping our older players conditioned and healthy. Our young core really should get most of the minutes to keep the old heads fresh.

Same. I woke up, checked twitter and noticed Ben Rosales put out a projected Depth Chart and I saw it included Luol Deng.

Super pumped! Not a better professional, mentor, versatile player than Deng out there. Perfect fit!

He'll also age well with our team able to play less minutes as the years go by. I was just telling a co-worker on Friday about our famous slogan as Lakers fans for Luol: "No Deng, No Deal"

    Love this :Headbang:

    Getting me all nostalgic!

Ingram and Deng were Kobe's last gifts to us.

He prefers markets where he can keep up his tan. Miami, LA. We're fortunate.

Let's hope it's not a near decade and a half of futility... I don't think it will be that, to be honest. Just Don't Screw It Up, Baby!

    Luke learned well from Kobe.

Deng is a great vet addition. The market set the price, thats not as shocking anymore, but the length of the contract is a bit long for
a 31 year old. Is the 4th year a team option? Overall, great addition.

Absolutely false when it comes to "literally according to the market." We offered him a gigantic contract 4 minutes into free agency. We have zero idea what Mozgov market value is. If you offer someone something and they take it without even questioning it, it probably means they were expecting significantly less. That wasn't waiting to see what the market was saying. We were bidding against ourselves at that point. It's like the Kobe contract where we threw 25 million at him when no team in their right mind would have paid him more than 15 at that point coming off of achilles surgery at 35 years old. Judging by the way everyone but Laker homers are scoffing at us, we waaaay overpaid. I'm sorry. I'm not going to buy the line being shoved out at us. How is his veteran presence going to help us? Why would our youngsters look at him as anything more than some dude that couldn't even get on the court (I know, I know..."injuries"). He'll be making triple what they are.

It isn't that big of a deal when you consider that we won't even be contending before the end of his contract (and that's if our young pups pan out), but it still is going to look horid on year 2 or 3 when we could have maybe teamed up 2 max free agents next offseason. Now we can't have more than one.

EDIT: I am done discussing Mozgov here. This is the wrong thread for it. ;)
