Exactly. I hear Deng is quite pasty if he doesn't get his sun.

This is the kind of move I have been waiting for....

Very smart. Deng is a 'glue guy' and what we have been missing for a while. He also is a vet and while he is 31, he can show the kids what 'team defense' is all about. We have plenty of scoring on our roster. His scoring is equivalent to Caron Butler back in the day and he is younger than say Ray Allen in terms of his ability to hit big buckets. Love this move.

All depends upon how the kids gel. I remember when it 'clicked' for that Kobe and Shaq club. granted they were 45 wins on paper and 50 for sure by all prognosticators back then but --- let's all remember how we felt when we first saw the ball movement and the look in lakers players eyes when they knew - they had something special.

Its coming....I'm going to say assuming no injuries --- we are flirting with 40 wins.

Does anyone think that Wade would consider a 1+1 with us now that we got Deng? Honestly, it can't hurt to call. We can limit Wade's minutes with Lou and Clarkson backing him up.

    Zubac/Black/Mozgov ;)
    Randle/Nance
    Deng/Ingram
    Wade/Clarkson
    Russell/Lou

This is the new streamlined no nonsense recruiting concept. No carbon footprint from the Lakers and their prospective FAs with needless physical meetings.

Mitch: "Luol we would love to have you come play for us in Los Angeles and I have a Lot of money to offer to you. Talk to you later .... we're excited. Here's Luke.'"

It's a pretty interesting team, and if it's our +1, then we could let him walk if it meant freeing up a position for a max deal. I don't know that Wade is interested in a short deal though. He probably wants a comfortable number of years to ride off into the sunset.

Good signing but if 60 Mio. Cap gets you only mozgov and Deng, it's safe to say it's another FA desaster off season.

I'd offer Wade a 3 year max deal if he was willing to come...

He instantly makes us playoff contenders, even at his age.

We lose nothing by inquiring. Offer him 2 years 40 million and see what he says.

Nah. You have to go through a process of weeding out the losing elements and setting the right attitude going forward if you're going to turn around your god awful team. That's what we're doing. Deng wouldn't have come here last year. He did this year. I think that's already evidence that our tide is rising. I'd expect more of the same next year. We attracted a second tier FA this season. Maybe we'll have a legit shot at a first tier FA next season.

Well said, Trodgers. You have to start somwhere. I'm glad we were able to fill our two needs (Center, SF). As I've said before, we can't keep hoarding cap space. We have to improve and after 3 miserable years, the time is now. We have blue chip prospects, signed two capable vets who can still contribute to help us win games, and we still have space to add one more piece to the puzzle and strengthen our team. We might not be a PO team, but rest assured, we are going to be better than the last couple of seasons combined.

This is HUGE. First year coach already landed Deng on a 17-win team and could have gone anywhere else in this salary cap environment to get paid and win. Sure, we might have offered more than any other team, but how long has it been since we've had a coach communicate with a player and land him. Feels like ages ago. Love this...now, imagine Luke recruiting from a position of strength; more wins, more improvement from the young guys, etc. It feels like the tide is turning Finally!

I'll end with: while I believe the Lakers FO is incompetent in some ways, I don't believe they would be bad enough at simple economics to misjudge so badly Mozgov's value. Every instance we've seen of other contracts for comparable players has been AT WORST in the ballpark of what Mozgov got.

I think the assumption not just by you but a lot of people is that the FO overpaid and I simply don't agree. We don't have to go back and forth anymore on it. We're not going to agree. :)

Concerning Wade: I think Mitchell and company would find it strange to give Wade something like 3 years and $60 million when they never gave Kobe that kinda money.

I know it's a business, but those two were same position rivals for so long.

Hope I'm wrong, but the feeling I have.

while i dont like moz signing i will back you on your point....biyombo just got 4/70, didnt do much more than moz career #s and got paid off of a few exceptional playoff gms, moz did have some big gms in the finals 2yrs ago himself. Make worse biyombo is still projected to be a backup, i cant imagine paying nearly 18mill for a backup with no offensive skill and can only dunk
