NO DENG NO DEAL!
Real must be jumping from joy. He was lobbying for Deng for years
I think real's sleeping
Welcome and only wish is - health. We had the worst luck with these things...
Great addition. Wanted him after we drafted Ingram and didn't think he would come here to play with kids. Thought it was going to take a lot of money to get him.
Glad things worked out the way it did. Can't believe there are people (not on LB) that are bashing this signing.
Real Lakers fans don't sleep during important times...
I like this signing a whole lot and it definately takes care of a need for our team. Unfortunately people will still bash this move just by his age and by the amount he signed for.
Is it possible to get a split of his stats at SF and PF? Both offensively and defensively? Also, the last couple of years, how good that corner 3 is from him? That corner 3 was money a couple of years ago. I guess I'd need a shot chart for that.
His corner 3ball is money. Can't wait to see Russell penetrating and kicking it to Deng in the corners. I also think he and Randle will be a very good tandem.
Yeah. His defense was still excellent this year, too. Damn, I like this signing.
Yes Deng, Yes Deal?
Corner 3s are easy. Basketball Reference tracks those.
Deng shot 36.2% on corner threes last season, 37.2% from there in his career, but he has been over 41% from the corner in five of his seasons.
Hard to get reliable stats by position, but 82 games has this (per 36 minutes):
SF 15.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 48% eFG%. (Holding opponents to a 13.2 PER)
PF 19.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 52.4 eFG% (Holding opponents to 15.5 PER).
Nooo! A TRD endorsed small forward is the kiss of death! Damn it, damn it all to hell!
Damn, that's golden. Thanks a ton.
Deng was much better at the 4 than at the 3, just saying .
Wouldn't be shocked if after the ASG Julius comes of the bench.
31 years old
Projected FG%: 45.3%
Projected 3pt%: 33.6%
Projected FT%: 77%
Projected PTS+AST+REB: 22.5
Potency (pts+ast+reb/36): 23.6
Projected Offensive Impact: 1.0
Projected Defensive Impact: 0.1
Projected Value over Replacement: 1.8
Verdict: Deng shoots, rebounds, and defends. He's a veteran who plays a lot of minutes and would serve as an incredible mentor to the Lakers' young bucks. He'd be a good add, even up to max for a couple seasons.
I can't find the NBA.com one easily, but here's a link to his shot chart. He shoots from all over, and he's really good on the corners and in the paint.
