5 yards! Not 20 or 25 or even 30 yards, but just 5 yards down field??

    Ridiculous.

I hate Jeff Fisher. I hope he's fired on Thanksgiving even.

Watching the Rams (Jeff Fisher) gives me flashbacks to Byron....

Goff looks good. There's some real talent in there. He's able to scramble nicely, has a strong arm, and can deliver passes nicely. I think with the proper coaching he could be a real asset.

@alam1108 you are 100% right: Fisher is Byron Scott. He's old school, unable to adjust, and incapable of understanding the new age of football. He needs to get fired and we need a new coach (and GM).

Carr learned via baptism by fire. Opened as a rook with many a demoralizing loss to where he is now. The only way to gauge Goff is to open up the playbook and put him in situations where he can succeed in the same manner. He did alright yesterday.

...you just might get your wish. ;)

From SI's NFL Week Under Review by Melissa Jacobs.
    1. Remember back in September when Jeff Fisher was supposed to receive a contract extension for reasons no one could explain? Well, turns out we’re still waiting, and as Pro Football Talk pointed out, Fisher has just five games left on his current contract. With the Rams losing six of their last seven and Goff being straight-jacketed for nine weeks too long, could Jeff Fisher’s era of mediocrity finally be coming to an end in Los Angeles? For the sake of the ambitious, we can only hope.

Now the latest and greatest is he told off Eric d***erson, the greatest running back in franchise history.

    The bullet points are:
    - d***erson is blunt about the bad coaching and specifically calls out Fisher/the QB coach.
    - d***erson requests field passes for some friends.
    - Fisher calls d***erson and says he can't have passes if he's going to be critical.
    - d***erson says "someone in upper management" has requested that d***erson not be on the sidelines because he "makes the players uncomfortable".
    - Kevin Demoff (VP of the Rams) says that d***erson is absolutely allowed and encouraged to be on the sidelines.
    - Fisher says d***erson is absolutely allowed on the sidelines, but can't have passes if he's going to criticize the team.
    - d***erson goes on the radio and calls out Jeff Fisher by name as the one who called him and told him to back off. Then says he'll never go to another Rams event at the Coliseum as long as Fisher is coach.

d***erson actually went pretty hard after Fisher. I love it. Anything that pushes Fisher's butt out the door faster.

"Prickerson" works but d***erson gets asterisks with the auto censor? Always felt like d*** was less offensive of the two weenie names.

The extension is a hold over until the new stadium is built. They'll accept being mired in mediocrity, but now they "don't have to worry about the coaching search" while they're building a stadium and trying to get their future in place.

Once the stadium is built, they'll fire Fisher and hire a progressive coach. Then they can sell a "new direction" as well as their new stadium.

Until then the Rams are completely satisfied to be a sub-.500 team which I hope loses them millions of dollars. I hope they lose season ticket holders by the hundreds. Also keep in mind if Fisher doesn't win another game all year, it's possible they still fire him.

Yeah that's what I've been hearing lately. Vinny Bon Signore also said the same basic thing: this extension doesn't preclude firing and what he's hearing/seeing within the organization indicates that he's likely gone.

The Rams looked at this extension as a "thank you" for helping the team move from St. Louis to LA. It doesn't mean he won't get fired after the season.

    I can only hope.

Poof... he's gone. Unnamed sources say the Rams organization has reached out to Jim Buss in the long successful Lakers organization .... for counciling on what it takes in the competitive Los Angeles market .... to spot, evaluate and hire great head coaches ....with his impressive record over the past 5 seasons.
