We killed @The Rock 's thread before... Hm... Do we like you more than Rock?...

I'll allow it because it's official he's gone AND he's shown interest in us. Sustained!

He's one of the few low post players who can score inside and outside under pressure in the league. What ever team he lands on will be better instantly.

If Houston gets him it would be a huge improvement. Howard is no "end of the game" scorer and everything was on Harden. LMA would change that dramatically.

I'd love to get him here but why would he come here? If he's looking for a shot at a title we may be too far away for him to make a difference.... stranger things have happened I guess.

Getting him would give us a good mix of vets and youth (with Okafor and Clarkson). It would also make Randle somewhat redundant.

I would also assume that Portland will seek sign and trade scenarios with him to try and salvage something.

1.) Attracting free agents - So far we've heard news that DMC, Wade, Jimmy Butler, Love and Rondo have all wanted to be in LA. And FA hasn't even started yet. I'd say we get a check in that box.

2.) Underappreciated by the organization - We have an organization and fan base that literally bends over backwards for players, he would be the main focal point moving forward in how the roster would be.

3.) New environment - He has an offseason home in LA, what's better than playing ball at the mecca for big men for one of the greatest franchises in sports?

4.) The future - JC, Randle, Okafor or Russell, Kobe and next year a ton of cap space. Whatever direction he wants to go, we can go, but all signs point to that direction being back to the top.

    Do it Mitch!!

Thank you sir. This is just going to turn into the LMA Discussion thread anyway in a couple of weeks. (Gets on hands and knees to pray it happens)

Let the talks heat up! I'm ready for it!

We've got a hell of a deal for him if he wants to come here. I know we might not be as competitive as the Spurs next year, but the next 3-4 years? We should come close to their competitive level. We've got a lot to offer him that's for sure.

If we keep the 2nd pick and add Aldridge, no doubt we compete.

I would love to see Aldridge on the Lakers! Clarkson/Kobe/Randle/Aldridge/Okafor may not make the playoffs, but we'd be close. And I think that would be a talented lineup that could work, especially after Randle and Okafor get some experience under their belts.

Man, if after all this LMA, Boogie, Love, Wade, Rondo talk, all we'll end up with is "only" Jah and maybe overpaid Carroll, i will be dissapointed...

I still wouldn't be disappointed in that lineup... We'd be a deeper team that's for sure.

I never thought we were going to have a legit shot at him, didn't think he'd leave Portland, so this is some great news. Even having a shot to make a pitch is good. He's 2nd only to Marc Gasol on my list of available free agents this offseason.

Agreed. Gasol was at the top of my list but it's been clear pretty much all season that he's not going anywhere. Given that, LMA's at the top. I'd still be totally happy if we were able to land a legit starting SF in FA, but I think we do need to go after Aldridge first as he's the best talent available right now.

And it hasn't even been a year since "no one wants to play in LA". Summer is going to be fun fellas, last week we were happy with even just Carroll as the big FA get, now we have a chance at LMA? Things are on the up and up.

If anyone was wondering what the roster/salary would look like if we landed LMA, look no further....

    JC (845k)
    Kobe (25) / Brown (845k)
    Randle (3.1) / Young (5.2)
    LMA (18.9) / Black (845k) / Kelly (1.7)
    Okafor (4.2) / Sacre (1)

    or

    JC (845k)
    Russell (4.2) / Brown (845k)
    Kobe (25) / Young (5.2)
    Randle (3.1) / Black (845k) / Kelly (1.7)
    LMA (18.9) / Sacre (1)

    Total - 63.135 million

Late 1st and 2nd rounder left to choose
4.6 million dollars left to spend (After signing the two picks)
2.8 million room exception left to spend
Vet mins to round out the roster

    Oh mama.
