I agree, but don't we already have plenty of assistant coaches who can also teach proper help defense techniques.

Again, I'm not against the idea and think we owe Odom a chance to see how he does. It could be a great role for him and the players might feed off of him really well. I mean Lamar back in the day when he played was always every ones favorite teammate and the most respected player in the locker room. Just a cool dude.

I'm sure we'll hear about this later at some point in whether our FO wants to give him a shot.

I'm not entirely sure what he would do but I would give him an assistant coach position and go from there. Give him a purpose, something to do.

Randle has played similar to him, rebound and push. Sometimes it ends a little wonky, a bad pass or just stopping without a purpose, maybe LO can help him there?

dudes a multi millionaire, not saying one shouldn't feel bad for him with all that he's gone through but the guy is a lost cause IMO, I would not be surprised if he's back in the news in the near future with another one of that "vegas" story

Just because he's a multi millionaire doesn't mean he isn't a human being. The dude has seen more loss to those around him than someone should, and you are right, the chances of another "vegas" story is high and really could happen at any point. But if you could offer the guy a chance to fix things, to redeem himself in some way then you go ahead and do it. He seems to want to fix things, why not give him an opportunity to do it.

he wants fixing when he feels like it not cause he wants long term change....I never watched him when he was on Kardashian but I read that the friends he hung out with were mostly druggies he was the one that contributed to his friends drug habits. The friend that OD a few years ago was the guy on the show with Odom, Odom paid for his pad and more than likely his drug habit as well. Odom puts himself in these situation time and time again, its not other people, its him. It seems like he needs help but dude checked himself out of rehab after a month, this is after nearly dying from drugs, why is he still in these predicament?

I can not condone what he has done and I do not accept his attitude the last few years.

I can still be there for him now when he's reaching out for help and checking himself into rehab.

I've had people give up on me. It's pretty crushing.

Odom doesn't need people to turn their backs. He needs help finding a purpose to continue on. People without hope medicate themselves. Sometimes to death.

That being said, the Lakers are a professional organization where results would be expected. Maybe this is something to experiment with in the offseason. Can he handle a regular workload, stresses of travel, etc? Sometimes people cause permanent damage when they've heavily medicated.

There is no one ignoring his checkered past. It's why he's not working with the team today.

I don't want Odom on the staff. He might have a nice personality but isn't ideal for a young core.

This young core, more than anything, need to be grown in a winning culture around dedicated, professional and competitive people, who live and preach discipline.
