He was pretty great in Europe before he learned first hand from the best in the game how it's done in the NBA?

WIKI: He has won four EuroLeague championships as a head coach. Messina is regarded as one of the best European basketball coaches of all time, having been named one of the 50 Greatest EuroLeague Contributors in 2008.

He was named the Italian League's Best Coach three times, in the years 1998, 2001, and 2005. Furthermore, he has been named EuroLeague Coach of the Year twice, in 2006 and 2008. He was inducted into the Italian Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. In 17 seasons, his career head coaching record in the EuroLeague is 279–98 (.740).

I'm pretty sure none of them have Messina's European resume ..... but sure some success or him and Blatt wouldn't have been over here giving it a shot too.

Good points. Messina is not just another assistant. He came to the Spurs with a very long and successful HC resume from the Euro League. I dont really understand why he hasnt gotten a shot somewhere.

Maybe because the NBA is completely different than the Euro League. The egos of players are different, the pay scale is different, and the talent is different. I'm not sold that Messina would make a great NBA coach. He probably deserves a chance, but I get the hesitation.

Anyway, if any coach from Europe is going to be really good in the NBA it's probably him if he gets a shot. Wonder why Cleveland picked the Michigan coach. Rebuilding and young kids I guess.

I'm sure Bron is disappointed about Lue, but outside of coming right out with a clear verbal declaration of support, he did the next best thing and "liked" the Vogel/JKidd combo on socials haha.

I dont know that any of us are sold. But the resume says there is a good chance he will be a success. Compared to the other retread choices, he seems to be viable option to consider.

Whoa, how did I miss this? Why would Jeanie’s mouthpiece be out here saying such dumb things like this with LeBron being our best shot at recruiting and free agency only a month and a half away?

Those guys hurt my head and were awful. Had to quit 2 minutes in but got their point. F*** them and that. Good for Jeanie. Pulford and Riley would handle same way. The AD fiasco in my theory blew her mind and must have been orchestrated without her blessing. Or negotiated some way totally different. She doesn't want the L.A. LeBrons like most of us.

We saw this very differently. I don’t even like LeBron and even I think he’s more qualified to have a voice in our personnel decisions than Kurt, Rob, Linda, and especially Jeanie. I don’t understand signing LeBron, and then continuing to try to make a point through your media mouthpiece that this isn’t his team. Why sign him then? To sell tickets? It’s not to win if you aren’t doing everything you can to surround him with the best talent right now, and that includes players, coaches AND management.

I just couldn't watch all of it and yes get that too. I have questioned in my head all of the passive aggressive nature of reported pique-ness from the Lakers and even if stupid all the trade LeBron as an option crap. But seems to me like at some point LeBron and Klutch are going to be wait a minute, enough of this and have a blow up with the organization.

He honestly does seem pretty care free right now. And in reality, if LeBron can get a Kawhi or Kyrie to join him, recruit some pals (shooters) from around the league to ring chase, and we have any measure of success, even just WCF appearance, his legacy only goes up. So it’s in his best interest to save this franchise right now, I believe he might be the only one who can, and this is coming from a guy that hasn’t ever been a fan of his except when he was playing against the C Bags

I think he has more power now because Magic is the only one that had enough respect for him to listen to. If he gets the pieces like you say, they will have a very successful year. And the dysfunctional trio of Rob, Kurt and Jeannie should be kissing his a**.

I liked the way James looked today.

    :p

Touch of color with the shoes and hat .... very chill. So that's important.  None of the suit pants with giant purse s***. Plus he came to play with the basketball a bit today as shown above. Glad he's at least here. We'd really be floundering worse without him after all this **** going on heading into FA.

I used to lol at LeBron being the shadow GM in Cleveland. Right now I would applaud if Jeanie named LeBron as Player / GM.

Bomani's voice and constant race agenda makes me want to end dogs lives. All these dual opinion shows have turned into daytime trash where all we hear is worthless opinions with no backing 90% of the time.
