On pace to pass Kobe in less than two years. He will likely be 4th on the all time list passing Jordan after next year. Wow. (As reference he has over 2,000 points this year)

Knocking a guy cause he can stay healthy while his competition can't is ridiculous. If I applaud LaBron for something, why should random Kobe fan feel so threatened, especially if Kobe was never brought up in comparison...and vice versa. You can compliment each player without comparing the two or having to put one down to raise the other up....It's pretty silly and unnecessary.

They're obviously two different types of players and we know all the intangibles that attribute to their achievements. For instance, Bron never played with a player quite like Shaq, so would Kobe be sitting at 5 titles if he never played with him? What if Kob continued to get to the Finals and got knocked out each time, would some hater be referring to him as KOKOKOKOKObe? Kobe wanted a trade to Pluto, but that wasn't an option, so he opened up his trade list to Chicago, so dude must not be a competitor cause he wanted to be traded out of the mighty West for a lowly Eastern conference team. C'mon man...Really?

On the flip side there are stats like this, that are super divisive.

First of all, in a generation where triple doubles are the norm, defense doesn't exist with scores like 13X-12X and 3pt records keep getting broken every year, when you bring up a player and their scoring achievements and compare it to yesteryear, then Im sorry, it doesn't hold any weight. Kob and MJ had to deal with handchecking and big boy fouls, while Bron and today's stars flop on a nightly basis and dont remotely face the defenses that yesteryear stars faced. The league is actively driving up offense, so is it really any surprise that scoring records continuously fall and players are getting younger and younger in reaching that milestone.

Bottomline is I appreciate each player and as of now Kob is definitely my guy in any comparison since he's helped get 5 rings for our team...But I ain't knocking Bron till he denies our free agent bid, cause dude can be a future Laker helping our team get even more hardware. It's silly to compare the two just as it's silly to penalize them for tangibles that they had no control over (ie playing with Shaq, playing in the easyt.)

Btw: I absolutely want the Cavs to lose out to help our pick and I don't care how that makes Bron look.

    He’s a great player

I don’t like him. I don’t want him on my team.

Do you understand how this is possible?

Absolutely and that's your prerogative. But thank god, that mentality isn't one that is shared by our FO.

They seem to prefer him and have opened up cap in a way that really shows their hand. KCP is manna falling from the sky...Really?

Do you understand how that is possible?

My post was mainly joking around and LeBron hating for the sake of it because that’s something I do for fun occasionally, teasing, that should have been obvious from the Nick Wright line. I honestly didn’t expect a serious reply to it, especially one this long. I respect your effort, but I just don’t care enough to argue this, I was only having some fun dude. :D LeBron is great, Kobe was better IMO, it was an example of what Kobe and Shaq faced compared to LeBron, and really it’s not comparable was my point. It also wasn’t a Kobe fan thing, he and shaq are just the guys I grew up watching, so I’m most qualified to speak on their particular playoff runs.

I don’t like LeBron, but I don’t dislike him enough to argue in full pages about it, come on now. In the NBA, there is us, and there is the enemy, there are guys I love to hate, always have. Rasheed, Webber, Bibby, Pippen, etc, it’s part of the fun. I don’t need to praise LeBron if I don’t feel like it, and I don’t need him to come save the Lakers, we’d be just fine in time without him. If he comes here, of course I’m going to root for him though, it’s my team, if I can root for Dwight Howard I can root for anyone. Oh, and I’m not really sure Kobe wanting to go East was weak, after all the Chosen One, the Kang himself was there, and they’d have had to go through many playoff battles. ;)

And Kobe was willing to follow in the footsteps of Michael Jordan and be compared to the greatest of all time. That is far from a weak mentality

Damn, QFT. We (Lakers fans) do to Bron EXACTLY what other fans were doing to Kobe. Finding a way to hate no matter what.

I'd appreciate it if we kept Kobe out of this disgusting thread.

I’m already looking forward to free agency being over.

LLLLL and PG and the plan surrounding them are basically the only sources of disagreement on the basketball section of the forum.

I’m still not sure what I’ll think once we end up with Kanter and Durant though.

Ok, I've stated clearly that I would prefer to assemble a team to beat LLLLL vs him join us, but when you look at highlights like this below, the guy is so smart and sees the floor so well, and still has tread on the tires. For how long who knows, but he hasn't slowed down much. It's freaking impressive. I'd say if he came here, and if we had another star like a PG to go with him, and we don't have to give up any assets of consequence to get either, I'm calling the Finals. I'm super impressed. Doesn't mean I like him. Doesn't mean I don't think he's an arrogant narcissistic POS ahole, but the guy can ball. Also might not be anyone better currently playing for our youngins to see for preparation and knowledge. What he is doing is unprecedented.

Also super impressed with Ben Simmons. He's going to be amazing as well. (I'm ready for Free Agency to be over already lol)

Or they did it for Kawhi?

Healthy, just because he got tired of Pop must be way more coachable.

Durant can opt out. Kawhi could be available. PG is a FA. Melo can opt out. :hurl:, Kanter opts out. LLLLL of course. Others in their final year. Current FA's in Lopez, KCP, IT, etc.

Lots of incredible options our Front office has. I have to say it will be one of the most anticipated Laker offseasons in a LONG TIME.

I think regardless what happens, we'll be in the playoffs next year, and depending on the developing talent we have, perhaps deep in the playoffs.

Thought I'd drop this on Twitter to troll Cleveland a little....

    :Brows:

Probably better close to the opening of Free Agency though...
