The King of the West, the Breaker of Opponent's Hearts and the Father of Mambas does not have to bend the knee for no one!

I don't want to make this political or offend any of our fans that have served in the military for this great nation of ours. But being a son of an immigrant family, it's embarrassing that it's front page news in how athletes are addressing the flag, when there is so much more going on in this world and in our nation that often falls to page 6. How the president has made this into popular discussion to create divisiveness and deflect from the real issues is cowardly.

    Nah he wouldn't, that's a game check. ;)

The rule is everyone has to stand coming from the commish himself. I'm sure the question was loaded ("kneel or stand?") which left him with one answer, but I'm sure Kobe would lock arms like everyone else.

Probably the Cowboys did the same thing a few weeks ago and was one of my more prouder moments as a fan. They kneeled before the Anthem and locked arms during.

Kobe’s full of crap, he wasn’t the type to draw attention to himself for any reason and I don’t remember him really getting too involved with politics during his playing days.

Pretty sure kneeling during the anthem was NEVER meant as disrespect to armed service members or the nation.

@scnottaken Not sure if you GoT my joke or not about Kobe...but on a serious note, there are plenty of folks who believe kneeling during the anthem is disrespectful ...primarily this guy:

IMHO, there are so many issues to focus on, yet this is one of the major narratives of the country right now. In terms of our athletes, I applaud what they're doing, but in terms of political figure heads, mainly the president, there are more important things to address. Instead he would promote divisive rhetoric, rather than flex at the real issues at hand.

The media has this topic covered all wrong. Kaep was trying to shed light on racial inequality, but now the president has turned this into something else. And the media keeps fanning the flame to where the narrative is athlete defiance against the system (ie keep working them fields "boy" and do as you are told). I don't want to derail Kobe's thread and I'll be damned if I invest time in trying to debate this topic (cause I'm sure we're both on the same side of it), however the majority are siding with the president and his pro-military propaganda and that is really disturbing (cause from the jump, it had nothing to do with that).

Either way, there is more important dialogue that needs to take place, but till then, let the Hillaryity of this topic ensue:

P.s. Don't get it twisted...I was Feel'n the Bern...so I'm going to puff puff pass on demonstrating any type of energy towards these next 4 years..at which time, the next Maverick might actually have a chance and won't need a cain to climb Capitol Hill. With a name like that, his biggest hurdle will be not finding himself alone with an intern in the Oval office.

If any of you felt the Bern, you would have quickly felt the burn in your pockets where your money is. Unless you are a freeloader. Then you'd be ok.

Vash is right. Don't disrespect Kobe or his thread by bringing politics into it. There's a place for that.

Feels for pockets, then realizes there aren't any. Woah...Vash is pantless. Guess that makes me a freeshow-er???

Getting back to the matter at hand...someone needs to pay our boys a visit at practice soon.

Uhhh...Kobe, you still want in? We can waive Bogut, if you still do. It would kinda be poetic justice, wouldn't it? Haha
