It's kind of feeling like we went a little backwards right now.....

which combo do you think will prove to be more effective?

More like a Farmar/Lin Combo. had Ronnie or Clarkson be our 3rd stringer.

i never liked marshall at all. i wanted him to stay far far away, a long time ago.

For this current squad, Lin/Price makes more sense. Lin's ability to penetrate and run the pick and roll gives the starters an offensive option outside of Kobe. He's a decent shooter to space the floor for Kobe and he can keep up defensively with most starting guards. Price is perfect for the bench because the bench does not need a true point guard with Nick Young back, and Randle playing in the post. His defense coupled with Davis' interior presence makes the bench a formidable squad.

Farmar was too "me first" minded for the bench or to start. All Marshall had going for him was his passing. Both of their lack of defense wouldnt sit well with Byron.

Only one is above average. Lin FTW!

Would rather have Farmar than Price, but, above average + below average >>> average + average. Reasoning is that at the end of the game, only one of them is gonna be on the court.

    Give me Lin and Price.

It was sort of obvious over at CL that I was not the biggest Marshall fan. I think he put up nice ast. numbers but was way overrated. I really do like Farmar but a combo of Lin and Price is better than just one player.

This. Lin is starter material, none of the others is anywhere near that.

In a perfect world it would be Lin/Farmar, but one of them has an ego of being a superstar player and couldn't wait until the Melo situation resolved.

What we need know a rotation that can play >70 games on the season. If Lin/Price can do that, then they are already better than Marshall/Farmar, because we all know ego ears will get hurt at some point.

For this team, Lin/Price is better, but Lin/Farmar would be ideal.

Lin/Farmar/Clarkson PG rotation would give me a stiff one. :D

I do wish Jordan had stuck around. That was the only thing that really bothered me this offseason, that he got so impatient and jumped ship to the Clippers (pun intended). But he's always been a hothead. Honestly he wasn't going to get as good a contract here anyway. But it was a bummer to me. That said, I'm fine with the PG situation since we picked up Lin who is a big upgrade, and Price fills a different role - a defensive minded PG. I don't even remember the last time we had someone like that. Now if Nash would just retire so we don't get strung out on having him in/out the rotation. If that's what's happening it's a nuisance more than a help.

What hasn't sold you on Lin yet?

First game he took a passive role, picking out his spots and had a lot of assists.

Second game his defense on Curry was excellent, and he was aggressive offensively attacking the basket, probing, and still looking for players.

He's much more of a complete point guard than Farmar and Marshal combined, and he plays defense.

Lin + solid veteran would be ideal. I like what Farmar gives you in spurts, but a young-ish guy with hamstring injuries that linger? I'm not a fan of that. His smaller frame means he's not going to get a lot stronger which means he's not going to stay healthy.

Nash is a good bet behind Lin... three years ago. Now Nash is a good bet as a mannequin on the sidelines in a nice suit.

Price is below the "solid" line for me. I think Price does some things well, but there are better options out there. Ideally you're talking about maybe Jameer Nelson or somebody like that. A guy who has been around the League and can still do some things. All things said though, Price will do.

Marshall/Farmar was an alright combination, but a year or two removed from really being effective. I like Marshall's abilities, but he needs to develop a much more consistent shot to be really effective. Without a shot he can't play off the ball at all and that doesn't fit with a scorer like Kobe.

Between the two, I go Lin/Price simply because of what they'll give me defensively. Of course we could certainly use an upgrade behind Lin though.

Lin is better than any point guard we've had in quite some time so we've upgraded. Plus Lin plays defense.

Lin and Price for sure. Marshall had a great assists average but his shot was rather suspect, farmar is pretty solid but never liked his ego.

Idealy I would pair Lin with a veteran point guard. Lin is a starting caliber point guard, probably then best pg we've had in years. Price is good defensively but I've always liked having a veteran PG that can come in and calm things down if needed. Someone like Nelson or Hinrich would be great.

You act like he's a rookie who just entered the league.

The guy has had a solid 4 years in the league now. Why would the Lakers trade for an unproven Lin if they really thought Farmar was worth keeping.

Lin and Price. Lin is a better creator off the dribble for points and assists than Marshall. Price is a better defender than Farmar dreamed all his basketball life.

I'll take Lin alone over the other 3.

I liked Farmar but I take Lin/Price without any hesitation. Lin is just going to keep getting better.

    Lin/Farmar would've been nice.
Lin is head and shoulders above the others in the list, and I'm hoping he's healthy and goes at least 70 games this year. He'll make us feel pretty good about the PG spot.

This right here. Farmer was too young to have to sit out of so many games last season and he's always had that shoot first, pass slater type of game. Sure he went off some games but he was never consistent to be starter. Not saying Price is but adding Lin to that combo makes up for his deficiencies...well maybe. Lin/Price could blow up in our face and this conversation will be moot, but until then, go Lin/Price!
