Eh, it was to help himself, not hurt the lakers, imo.

I'm not that mad. If it was sabotage, he failed.

I don't think of it as sabotage, more like keeping a person on the hook that you're not that interested in. The right thing to do is let that person go if you know you're not going to be with them.

I don't believe at this point that he was ever coming. When you see an opportunity like we presented and you pass on it, you were never going to take it. He's (in my opinion) someone who Laker fans will remember as the guy who was too afraid of a dynasty and it cost him a chance at being remembered as one of the greatest of all time.

I think it was shady overall.

If he was deciding between 2 teams then the 3rd team is getting shafted.

One decision (coming back to California) obviously was made even before he meets the Clippers. So why grant the Raptors a meeting?

If the decision about California depended on the Clippers.. Then the Lakers got played.

It’s been reported that Kawhi asked Friday night to hold off on signing AD till Saturday or Sunday. Paul George announcement came 2 hours later. There is no way he didn’t know that it was a done deal at that time but he still strung us along.

I guess my definition of a rock star is different then yours. What is your take on what they did to Blake Griffin? I thought the whole jersey retirement, T-shirts comparing him to MLK etc. and then trading him 6 months later was an embarrassment. It worked out for them but in no way do I consider that a way to run a front office or a great owner. How you treat your employees matters, at least to me.

of course he knew, reports just came out saying he was secretly meeting pg same day as our FO pitch meeting, so that means everything was already in the works BEFORE he meant our execs, so hes he is a snake and wasn't merely hedging

report's sats he met with pg same day as our FO pitch meeting, so he already knew what was happening, he wasnt hedging he was delaying us knowing full well of his intention, if i were to compare it to yout son analogy, your son already got what he wanted out of the 1st interview but tells the other 2 companies to wait so 1st company can do what they need to do to drive in their offer

Only chance we had was if OKC wasn't willing to trade Paul George. Clippers with another star was his #1 choice. I'm still blown away by how easy OKC caved. They got a huge haul and if they waited, they wouldn't have, so there's that, but what happened between PG/Russ? The whole thing is very bizarre. You would think they'd try to make it work. League is as wide open as I can remember next year.

Read somewhere there were former employees of OKC in the Clippers front office so that helped too.

If he requested one of the companies to hold off on hiring another qualified candidate while he pretended to make up his mind, when he knew full well that he had no intention of going there, then yes, that makes him shady.

You are sure he was pretending? Any inside information? Bottom line, he was asking questions that suggested he was quite serious about coming.

Bottom line, whether Kawhi signed or not with us turned on what LAC did or didnt do. If they had screwed up or said no, KL would likely be a Laker now and y'all would be celebrating, not caring at all that we were his 2nd choice.

The more I think about Ballmer paying the media...the more I'm convinced...

word was that Kawhi has asked teams if informations leak...they are out.

In a very weird way there was chatter everywhere right around free agency begin about the Lakers being the leaders and Kawhi going to the Lakers 99%...

then there was a lot of chatter about Toronto's impressive presentation and then guys like Rose etc..being 99% sure he is going back...

during the entire team there was ABSOLUTELY ZERO reports on the Clippers....even Woj didn't say ANYTHING even though it came out they had informations which they called "not verified enough to report"...WTF

There is no question that the Clippers went into detail here...and the Raptors and Lakers didn't...they hired Jenkins who is a media expert...they recruited Kawhi all year, they got the people fired who criticized him, they hired Jerry West, they went to great length...

they paid the media all year to report how much they want Kawhi and how much Kawhi wants them...then during free agency they paid the media to shut up immidiately...and then they kept the Raptors and Lakers in the dark for a week and then boom...

You can say whatever you want...they played dirty but they played a masterful game and they won. No reason to be mad..just recognize that WE failed.

Instead of wowing Kawhi we were all over the place with dysfunction, lack of trust and no competence among the front office.

Looking at it from the far...we never had a chance.

    100%

I bet you they paid ESPN/ Rose to give his 99% speech. They leaked about #2 being on the plane to Toronto. Hell who knew if that is even him. This is a mastery plan, to deceive and fool us.

Skip was always correct about #2, I defended #2 before, but now I know, he is a snake. I hope karma bite this one big.

They knew damn well that the Lakers was their #1 competition. Imagine if we knew and we chase after another superstar, I think we then can fill in our roster with vets.

Why can't Cris Carter just admit that Kawhi wanted to go to the Clippers and was afraid of being part of a Big Three for the Lakers? It's okay. I don't hold it against him for wanting that, the man has the right to choose. But if he was really upset about Magic and he was really upset about our staff in some way, then just say it immediately and let us move forward.

That’s why I posted it with the rebuttal tweet on top, it’s total spin. Maybe we land Kawhi with a less dysfunctional FO, but I think he really wanted to be a Clipper and used us.
