^I see what you are saying and it makes sense.

But I expect the Clippers to move down the western ranking. I can't see them keep winning at the current rate. I also think their biggest asset is that its a team where every night, somebody else is contributing. They are unpredictable and have different guys step up.

With a big time signing, I also see them destroying their "new" culture. If you can't win with Paul, Griffin, Jordan etc...

Also Tobias Harris has been on FIRE. He is an unrestricted FA after the season. Will they throw the max at him? They will have the same issue as the Lakers. Almost all their best players would be SFs (Gallinari, Harrell, Kawhi, Harris, ...). Its not a great fit honestly.

Yeah Clippers are the new Nuggets , superior team balance is great until it isn't when a star has to take over late in the season to win games on his own to make the playoffs.

I believe the Leonard to Clippers rumors , we are too big and "flashy" for Kawhi personality .

I truly believe Lakers know they're getting KD too. Lebron already told the FO imo

^Clippers are definitely a better fit when it comes to his personality. BUT so was San Antonio, an even better fit in that regard. Why go from a silent (winning) culture in San Antonio to a silent (losing) culture with the Clippers, just because its closer to home? maybe...But I doubt you leave 60-70 mio. on the table just to get closer to home (5 years earlier).

The entire story of Kawhi demanding a trade was said to be the idea of his new "inner cicle" headed by his new uncle who wants Kawhi to be in a big market to expand his brand and build his off-court businesses.

Admittedly, Clippers are in a big market but it doesn't matter because they are completely overshadowed by the Lakers and...because they are the friggin Clippers. If you want to see any advantages with off-court brand expansion, you only get that with the Lakers, so the trade request and leaving so many millions on the table turns out to look stupid.

Clippers will probably Clip but this year’s roster is actually pretty well built and they are playing some respectable basketball. They are doing a decent job if looking attractive for free agents.

PS. Harell is a PF/C not a wing.

So I have this "gaknawing " feeling that somehow Jerry West is trying to pull off both Kawhi and Durant. Is that at all possible? It would be s****y enough to just have him pull off Kawhi and then do what Jerry West has always done and build a great team about the best players they retain. Kawhi is looking awesome.

They can just wait until the off season and do that and can fit both in with no discount to their max levels?

I think if they dump Gallo and renounce Harris, they get 2 max slots that can net them Kawhi and KD.

Would they already have some good players left? That would be a nightmare going forward.

Jerry West is a master at building teams. He analyses situations so rationally, he knew he couldn’t win with Blake or CP3 since both are always injured - so he cut the leg off to save the life. Not many people have the guts to do that.

I’ll be very surprised if Kawhi leaves Toronto actually. They’re rolling. 9 and 1 in the last 10 games.

Winning does a lot to convince you to stay, and I don’t think they’re going to start a losing streak any time soon.

^Barns, I agree. I think Toronto is in the pole position.

Also most guys don't like playing for 3 teams within 12 months and moving around.
