How do we not know he chose to Clippers to also play with Kawhi as well? Two 2-way defensive pitbulls....
the knicks, clippers, or nets? i see he's already at that point in his career where he just wants the money. **** rings
At first glance it looks that way, but when you factor in the earlier rumors of teaming up, it sounds like Kyrie might follow wherever Jimmy goes.
Seeing that list, Boston has to be scared of losing Ky for nothing. I think those 2 will definitely partner up in whatever big market Butler ends up in. Notice the Lakers are not on the list even though we would have Butler's rights via trade to give him the max, even tho we can sign him outright next summer. So either way, he doesn't want to partner up with Bron...so that tells me his preference is Ky. Also here is Bron's mans on why Butler isn't a Lakers target. Notice that Zo wasn't mentioned...hmmm.
i don't see kyrie leaving the EC so if the rumours about him and butler teaming up are true then its going to be NY or BKN but kyrie's not a FA until 2020 so maybe he forces his way to one of those teams
I’m not sure if Butler is against teaming with Lebron. I think he knows that a trade with us wouldn’t be feasible and that we have other targets anyways. What is the Clipper’s salary situation like? If they trade for Butler and extend him, they’d still have room for another max?
@Helljumper cLips have 17 on the roster and 2 of those contracts are unguaranteed, so they're going to either have to cut Patrick Beverley (one of the unguaranteed contracts on their books) or find a trade partner to get their roster to 15 by the time the season starts. So it looks like the cLips will have to make some type of roster decision soon. Next year, they have 4 unguaranteed contracts (Avery Bradley accounting for roughly 13m as one of those deals) and as a result can have roughly 44m in team salary next summer. That would put them in position to have roughly 65m in cap next summer, but that doesn't incorporate an incomplete roster charge. So it would be in their best interest to trade for Butler and have his 30.7m cap hold on the books (his max would be 32.7m). That would give them roughly 2m in cap wiggle and still go chase another max free agent with that extra bit of flexibility. Imho cLips should be the team to watch right now and if they get something done, I feel a whole lot better about Kawhi coming to the Lakers. Notice that Toronto wasn't on Butler's list and even tho Kawhi could join Butler as a cLip next summer, it doesn't seem like a natural fit as a duo imo.
Sorry Steve. The Knicks dont get to dictate how to arrange their rebuild. Jimmy Butler wants to be a Knick, you have to get him. Your ship has been sinking for almost 20 years now. Buckets and Butler in NYK is good for the NBA.
Just once I'd like to see a team keep the guy after he demanded a trade and force him to play all season. I know it won't happen because you don't want to lose him for nothing, but it'd be fun to watch the awkwardness.
I'm glad that we're not on the list...and plus, just realized our only path to Butler RIGHT NOW is trading our young core...which is a non-starter for us...so that's probably why Butler doesn't even have us on his list...he knows we're not giving up anythign for him since we didn't for Kawhi or PG13...
Correct me if I'm wrong but the last time an organization didn't trade a player that wanted out was the Lakers with Kobe. Is that right? What a blessing it was that we didn't have end up being another statistic.
@Battle Tested20 SA with LaMarcus Aldridge...but notice that you got some strong influential personalities in Jerry Buss/PhilJax and Pop in those examples. Is Thibs that dude for Minny, especially if ownership has already floated the idea of getting rid of Thibs if this upcoming year is another failure? Plus there is a clear ultimatum here between Butler and KAJ/Wiggins...Minny chose the later, so Butler demanded out and there is probably zero chance at convincing him to stay as long as those guys remain.
