:SadPau2: .... think if Luke and staff had this year's team practice soft like that. I honestly think Glick is becoming a closet Lakers fan and just fakes this s*** to keep every fan here more competitively on their toes.

i honestly have no idea from whence that comment arrives nor where it's really going.

i'm trying to be respectful. it is indeed becoming difficult.

i think there's an interesting discussion to be had here on a few fronts. foremost is to what extent is a player's off-court morality central to your fandom? second is what constitutes evidence of moral fortitude or bankruptcy? i'm interested in both of these topics. i mentioned earlier in the summer that some of lance stephenson's past REALLY troubles me as a fan.

i don't feel that way about lebron. i hated the decision, but didn't see it as a moral infraction. i just thought it was a spineless sports move. the pageantry and its success is our fault, and quite frankly benefited children, so who cares about all that. i just thought it was lame to team up with two other top-10 players in their prime. it's on par with kd joining GS, imo--and i know that's not a popular take right now. but again, doesn't make him a bad person. it makes him a wuss in sports sense.

jason kidd was a total badass on the floor. and off, apparently, as he was super popular with other players (like harden is now: STRIP CLUBS FTW!). but he beat his spouse. how did that affect my joy at the 2011 mavs title? how should it have? i won't even go into kobe.

point is, i don't mind having an interesting conversation. i don't know what glick's here for, though.

anyway, back to butler. he's going to houston.

I agree with pretty much all of that.

I just reached my tipping point on respectfulness. I'll recuse myself.

If you want me to elaborate and do play by play i will.

I never had to root for the player i found morally reprehensible. The Spurs need to get some scumbags for me to answer that with experience around that behind me.
The thing about Lance is sometimes i forget what he did because he has so many goofy antics.

Not my fault, i would not have embraced the eventy if i was watching back than. He could have easily paid that money for the children from his won pocket. He humiliated an entire fanbase on purpose for an entire hour. Not only did he lack character ans was petty he revealed his dark side in very wuss way. Do i know if he is bad with 100% certainty. Not eaxctl but i strongly speculate he is.

It's a good outcome since you are picking late. Does mean if some can be way more you don't push him.

Why would i assume they cannot be great or iit's over for the next 5-10 years?

I used to post RealGm and i posted here for Bronntalk because i don't to debate 20 people at once. That might give that impression.

makes much more sense than houston's deal, imo. also better for the league to get more talent east. philly now a concern for boston and toronto (and milwaukee, i guess?).

just glad he's out of the conference.

Interesting. We’ll see if he can finally get along with younger players.

Wonder if he'll get along with another group of young high draft pick players. But glad there's more talent out east and he's not going to Houston.

I hate Embiid, but that’s a potentially amazing team.

punchers chance. If their depth and shooting is rocking, they can be dangerous. But offensively, hard to complain about that group.

I’m thinking over the next few years. I don’t think they have enough experience right now.

If this helps set up the Sixers to get another star, then it might be a good long term move.

Morey has said the rise of GSW has made GMs less risk averse and more open to trying team combos that they previously wouldn't. That's why we see teams nowadays try to trade for or sign stars and later it backfires (e.g. Butler, Anthony, etc.)

I'd rather have 4 picks. Covington isnt a young developing guy anymore. I think Saric is a good fit but not terribly exciting.

I wonder how true it is that we're seeing more teams trade and fail, whatever thta ends up meaning.

The 76ers are solid, but if they get Butler for just one year, it's not a great move for them. It has to be a move to try to keep him. No one wants Melo now, for instance.

His personality doesn't really fit well imo. His game does if Philly finds a shooter or 2.
