He's an A rating for the pick we had. This scouting department just continues to impress. I'll post more later, but this is an exciting player.
Scouting Report Tidbits Zubac's most impressive skill offensively, and the one most relevant to the role he seems likely to play in the NBA early on, is likely his ability to utilize his physical tools around the rim. Combining impressive mobility with great hands and soft touch, Zubac is a reliable target for his guards to throw the ball to, and shot a 63% around the rim in the half court this season according to Synergy Sports Technology. Able to dunk the ball with little effort thanks to his huge standing reach, Zubac also converts half hooks and quick flips over the defense at a decent rate, having little trouble getting off shots inside thanks to his size. Zubac probably has the second-best post game in this draft class behind Utah big Jacob Poeltl, and it’s a weapon that can allow him to be a more diverse threat than just a dive man. Zubac’s go-to move is a smooth baseline spin move, although he’s also strong with either hand on jump-hooks and I really enjoy his half-spin up-and-under move that is relatively new to his arsenal. He'll need the right fit and opportunity, but down the road, Zubac should offer starting-caliber talent. Physically, there won't be too many centers who can match his size and length. And given his wheels, the new small-ball era shouldn't phase him out. Good on Pick and Roll situations as the screener… Moves well without the ball… Great offensive rebounder… Although numbers can’t reflect this, he actually has shown great court vision and has the potential to become a good passer… Great offensive rebounder… Improving defensive rebounder… Good shot blocker, with the ability to alter shots with his length and size… Above average weak side defender… Shooting mechanics and Ft% suggest that he can become a good mid-range shooter through time…
can he finish lobs? i always thought that was a huge plus from bynum. really opened the offense up. even gs uses bogut's ground-bound a** in that action.
What's not to like? He loves this team, he loves the history, wants to work hard, has the skills and gifts to do so, replaces Sacre, great personality, etc... At #32
I just watched a couple of videos... How on earth did this kid drop to #32? He looks like a NBA player already with those incredible soft hands.
His DE Strengths tape said that even though he's not a great leaper (7 foot, 7'4 wingspan covers that) he has soft/great hands and able to finish lobs even though he's not a leaper. Another thing I liked is that he runs the floor very well which leads to easy dunks and he knows what the F to do in the pick roll in regards to rolling, diving, finding the open man. A lot to be positive about in regards to your question.
