5 for 21 shooting in itself wouldn’t be a huge deal in my opinion if it’s just an off shooting night. But it felt like a majority of those 21 attempts never even had a chance at going in.
Hate me all you want fellas, but I can't stand IT on this team. Great guy, in fact we have a mutual friend and all I hear are great things, but 3 pointers with 23 seconds on the shot clock with the entire lakers team still BEHIND you is just stupid. Bad turnovers and poor shot selection. Jumping in the air and passing? Im not even gonna get into his Defense.
Tough night for IT. I'm not going to pile on because he did give us some life at times. Just too many misses.
Not sure what's his thinking behind stopping his dribble in the mid-range area and lthen being forced to make a tough ( because of his size) pass. He lost this game on his own
Clearly he was off-balance and out of rhythm for whatever reason. He missed every easy pass. He passed up every open shot. Instead he'd over-penetrate and for some stupid reason get caught in the air (which is ironically right about eye level for most guys which makes his passes easy to deflect). He kept taking the bad shot. This was his worst game as a Laker and much of this loss falls at his feet. Hopefully he bounces back. I also hope people see what I see: depending on Thomas is mostly fool's gold. If he can't play at an extreme level, he's at a massive disadvantage. Thomas is a 6th man, especially with his hip where it's at.
Good call. I got heat for saying he was a glorified 6th man candidate during his MVP run, but I just didn't think what he was doing was sustainable. Injury aside, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see building around Thomas or counting on him every game as being a good bet. Anyone with the fear that LeBron will be too expensive and decline too quickly should want Thomas only in a bench role and only for bench role money.
Agree! I would be willing to go beyond MLE for him, but he’d have to embrace his role within the team concept and feel good about what he’s making. I have serious reservations about that, but especially after such an ineffective and inefficient gun slinger night.
Assuming we miss out on LBJ and/or PG...I would still resign him if he’s willing to take a big one year contract or pretty much around the same amount of money he is making right now, just more years. I mean Lou Williams is making pretty much the same amount with his extension and IMO he’s a better player than IT.
Wow! Look at the stat they post of IT with and without Brad Stevens. He’s a 16 ppg scorer that isn’t easy to play with. Stevens was able to accentuate his strengths and minimize his weaknesses with the roster he had, but it was a no brainer to upgrade to Kyrie and Ankle Snap in the offseason.
With injuries to BI and Hart, and the unfortunate timing of releasing Brewer, we have to play IT heavy minutes and we can't afford another game like that one. We just can't afford to sit him because he's ice cold. I'd rather not see anymore of Ennis.
