good idea for both sides, imo. harden's never had a major injury, and with his "conditioning", he could be due. for houston, they can't afford the pr hit that him walking in FA would bring, and with the rest of their roster not making much cash, his higher max won't prevent them from adding players in FA should the opportunity arise. also, f harden and houston.
Someone care to explain why Harden would do this now and not wait for the cap jump? Not real good with the cap and stuff, but it seems like Harden is the only star player to sign an extension recently. Everyone else is wanting to go on the free agent market.
i think the extension makes him more money in the short-term (enough to offset what he could get on the back end of a deal when he would have hit FA), and it opens him up for the huge 10-year vet max when he does become a FA in four years (instead of two). it just makes sense for everyone. the only thing preventing it would have been houston scoring big in FA this year. once they struck out, this was the clear option for them and harden
Ha, it wont be so impressive if it is a contract for multiple years. That oughta cause some "downsizing." Then of course there is the Kardasian effect.
harden...extensions...got to be a stripper joke in there... anyway, surprised nobody found it funny that harden's been peripherally implicated in a robbery and beating (his crew beat up and robbed moses malone's son because the latter dissed harden on twitter or something). so, yeah. top 5!
