my argument has always been talent acquisition over space acquisition. if you're going to use russell to move mozgov, don't do it for space. get a useful player back. people say lopez, but the first thing the lakers will do to sign a FA is renounce his rights.

same reason i think it's a shame we missed the opportunity to pay randle 12 per last summer. same number as his cap hold, and if you want to dump him, no problem.

note that all of the teams with whom we're "competing" for the top FAs don't actually have space. we're the only leverage, ironically. lebron can't threaten to walk to sacramento or dallas. gilbert would laugh. we're a threat, but we could also simply be competitive and have movable salary. the clips' packages for leonard center on tobias harris and late lotto picks. at this point, because we have no useful players on reasonable deals aside from our top prospects, any trade basically MUST involve them.

again, maybe lebron and paul george are in laker uniforms in two weeks, and you can all laugh at me. i'll be glad to have it. but man, if we're holding the bag again while teams without space got the big FAs, i'll be ready to burn some stuff down.

You can fall in love with our youth...but with Bron most likely heading West, Boston is left unchecked and now they're angling their treasure trove of assets to get Kawhi or AD...

I honestly think we need to shake our hate of Bron and our medical concerns of Kawhi and start gunning for our real enemy in all of this.

    Now ain't that a b****!

Its a copycat league...I rather we set the bar and have others follow. f*** the dubs and foston!

Your link is broken, but anyone named Auerbach can go ahead and shut their f***ing mouth.

Our facility is top of the line. They can try to compete, but everyone will know what we've got is the best money can buy.

A few years from now, theirs will probably reek of cigar smoke, uneven floors, broken a/c and rats running along the baseboards. Kind of like that hell hole The Gah...den.

    LOL

Mitch working that wand. Mitch has a weird fetish for Mozgov because this doesn’t make any sense for the Hornets. Howard, the better player who is also a expiring contract for Mozgov who has 2 years left on his deal....

    .....huh?

Wave that wand one more time, Deng for Kemba is imminent

awesome. howard finally gets to brooklyn! mitch gets his man back.

seriously, though--this has to do something cap or tax-wise for charlotte...it's the only way it makes sense. looks like they're saving 6 million this year. really a testament to how low howard's stock is.

Trevor nails this. This is the important part to us. This trade helps set the cost of Deng. Mozgov is not a hell of a lot more useful than Deng and the deals are similar.

problem is that there's only a few teams that can absorb deng. plus, mozgov's team at least played him last year. moving deng will be quite difficult, if not impossible in this climate. at least without giving up a useful player.

That's not true. Mozgov played all of 359 minutes last season. He played less minutes than Zubac (410 minutes).

The Nets just traded essentially a 17 million dollar Zubac and two 2nds for an expiring contract.

The Lakers should be able to trade a 17 million dollar Zubac and a couple firsts for next to nothing. There are still teams with cap space (Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta) that should have no problem accepting salary if we give up something of value. Essentially what I'm saying is my proposed trade of #25, Deng, 2019 1st, 2019 2nd, 2020 2nd for #30 is 100% plausible if ^^ that trade just happened.
