No not really. Until he became the total pr*** he was at Boston. But give me Kobe Bryant every day of the rest of my life on a desert island with Lakers youtube highlights to watch and no ring over the game Kevin played. My preference and what I thrilled to with Kobe. And aside from being that pr*** Kevin had a tremendous game.

I found him sort of silly, but there was a time when he wanted to come join Kobe and I believe if he had we would have won a title sooner than we did. I'm very happy we got Pau though and have no regrets towards that time (outside of the series we were up 3-1 on Phoenix).

Well im answering what seems to be implied that its more enjoyable to like what you see as oppose to winning with guys you don't like. I like our young players but if you ask give me a team of pg/leonard/davis over what we have now, i will take pg/leonard/davis everytime

No. You just said you'd watch 5 midgets if we got a ring.

Yeah of course that could be fun.

i think the "ring or nothing" versus "let's compete" argument is interesting. i consider myself firmly in the "let's compete" group, with the idea that if you keep yourself in striking distance of real contention that it's more likely you win one (see: dallas mavericks, 2001-2011). i get that people see the 2012-13 heat and 2008 C Bags and think about get-rich-quick schemes, though.

but as a fan, it's much more enjoyable to watch your team genuinely competing night after night. i can say i've watched fewer laker games than ever over the past three years, and it's because i just can't expect to see good basketball (which is how we become fans, right?) night after night.

those last three games prior to the allstar break basically let all the air out of that good streak for me. show up and play good ball. i'll fill the stands.

No way the Spurs take on Deng's contract in a deal for Kawhi unless we get stupid with the offer. Or one of these 2 suddenly get hired as GM's over there:

Was scrolling through the Optimism Thread and got scared over how plausible some of these pipe dreams seem. I really think we have so much flexibility and assets that if we get a little lucky, we could set off a series of dominos that quickly makes us an elite team again.

I was trying to calm myself down by considering worst case scenarios, so I wonder if any of you have already plotted out FA scenarios in the worst case that we strike out on the max guys and are unable to trade for an established superstar?

Are there any guys on the radar who would realistically take a big one year deal? Outside of the big name max targets, is there anyone out there that are worth a long term deal at the expense of taking away a slot for a max 2019 guy?

See the dreams through. What have you got to lose between now and the summer. Unless .... unless .... you're not a Big Baller?

I didn’t want to say anything, but...

I started writing analysis pieces for RealGM, and in this article I break down the most conceivable scenarios for trades and signings if we don’t sign two max players. Of course, it’s a fluid document subject to change, but I’m sure you’ll find it informative.

    RealGM

It’s my first piece, so I’d appreciate a click even though it’s on another site. Please let me know what you think. Trying to be taken seriously as a basketball analyst is a new thing for me.

Dude, that’s like the exact level of analysis I was looking for when I posed the question! Super informative and overall a good read.

Thank you brother. I can’t even tell you how long that took, but I’m happy how it turned out. Glad you liked it.

Yeah, I’m using my real name on RealGM or people might not take my work srsly

Of course the REAL GOAL is to eventually be promoted and transferred to work with the recently departed redhead in the NorthWest.

But I have a face for radio...

Worst case scenario, we have a ton of cap room and not a lot of teams do.

We could just wait out Deng's contract to expire and in the interim, take on bad contracts for really good draft picks in the next few coming years. So two years from now when Deng is off the books our young players have some experience, and we have a ton of really good draft picks for years to come, and those bad contracts will have expired
