I know your just wishful thinking, but no thanks because even with all that we aren't getting past GSW or maybe even SAS with that team. Thus, we'll be in playoff purgatory. Good enough to be in the playoffs but never advance to WCF or Finals. PG & Butler will age and in 4-5 years of just continuing this trend those guys with be fading away, we'll be right back to where we are now but without any young, upcoming players.

And whats 1 lowry gona do? Hes not good enough to carry the team
Well how is what i said wrong? If we dont trade for butler/george type, having lowry by himself on 25mill+ would be a mistake, as for hayward example, hes 27 compared to lowry 31, thats a big difference in age

I'm for getting Lowry if we can.

I would prefer Teague just because I think we can swing signing Teague along with PG and Butler and I'm afraid we can't afford Lowry, PG and Butler at the same time.

Either way, a lot of this hinges on getting that pick as a trade asset.

Did you not learn the lesson on over payment to veterans? Paul George will be cash in 13 months if he really wants to be in LA.

Lakers can not trade Russell, Ingram or Zubac. Anyone else is game.

Read the first thing I posted in my long response and then read the one where I said obviously we'd do more than just get Lowry.

Are you comparing Lowry to Deng and Mozgov because that's ridiculous and I'm sure you know that.

Lowry is the backup plan if Lakers don't get Ball. As pointed out playing DLo at the 2 was no coincidence. Or they finally starting seeing what I saw from Day 1, DLo is no PG!

No to Lowry. We can't be choosers but he's not that great and will come for much more $ than he's actually worth.

No Lowry, dude turns into Casper the soft ghost in the playoffs. I'd rather suffer through our kids continuing to grow than overpay Lowry. He'd be the Deng of All-Star contracts.

So again, how is what i said initially wrong? Thats exactly what i posted, signing lowry without a pg/butler type trade would be a mistake

We have no one on our team right now that can even get us to the playoffs at all. I'm not going to limit our options just because Mitch and Jim gave Deng a bad contract. Lowry makes us better, makes us closer, makes us more attractive, and would only cost cash.

I'd prefer probably Teague, but I see no reason not to add Lowry if we can.

I'm not interested in being Toronto West, getting to the 2nd round and out. I'd rather suffer and grow our young guys, or try and trade them for guys that will take you further than round 2. This isn't an isaiah thomas situation where it's settling for a "2nd tier guy" to get better now and worry about the rest later, this is sinking like Mike Conley money into a player that simply isn't worth it. I know the price has gone up on all players in the NBA, but I'm still not gonna say oh ok, well that's his price so give it to him. No thanks, I'll pass and be patient for something better. Don't like Lowry.

Same as I didn't like Mozgov at his price, I wouldn't like Lowry at his, don't care what the market is.

This is the LA Lakers. Dead money to players that can't help win Larry O'brien's eventually all are in the same trough.

This is the second time I've seen Lowry compared to Mozgov or Deng and I find that wrong. Mozgov hasn't sniffed Lowry's individual abilities in the NBA. Deng hadn't been an All-Star in 3 years when we signed him.

And once again: this is obviously not the first step. You sign a guy who makes the team attractive. Waiting for the kids to do something is waiting for nothing. The overwhelming odds are these kids will not be enough to win a title. Not to mention, signing Lowry has literally nothing to do with the kids. We sign him and the kids stay. We didn't have to trade for anybody. Also not to mention, I made it abundantly clear that Lowry isn't the final answer. He's the first piece in attracting bigger fish in FA. We aren't going to magically convince the best players in the league to come here when we're winning 20 games on a team full of college players.

Lowry posts DA like numbers while making what, 7-10 times as much? We need to get better, no doubt, but Lowry?

Actually David Stern putting a giant you know what up the rear destroyed the Lakers. Signing scrubs who can't come through in the regular season or playoffs won't cure that ache. Lakers need a super star in his prime. They already have young guys coming up who will be even or better than players like Lowry and they wont be making 30 mil either.
