    European prospects have a higher steal potential...but also a higher bust potential.

    I think at 25 you can take a chance if your "favorite" prospects are off the book. But generally there will be a steal at 25 available...the question will be if the Lakers are able to pick him up or whether some other team will be lucky.

    Imagine that teams trade players to the Lakers based on their draft ranking..

    the Lakers send their draft ideas at 15th and 27th to team X for the rights to player Y.

    47th and 55th aren't that far apart. Besides, the Lakers see 100 kids these days before the draft. They did it last year, remember?

    It's a highlight video so obviously it's going to make the kid look as good as possible. A good rule of thumb watching these kinds of things is: this is probably the best he's going to get. :D These are the best things he did in college last season, not necessarily indicative of what he does every night.

    So with that in mind what do you see?
    - Finishes with both hands in the paint.
    - Has a solid handle for his size.
    - Creative around the basket.
    - Moves well if not overtly athletic.
    - Really solid footwork and body positioning.
    - No jumpers. Nothing outside.
    - Not ideal size for a Center, but no jumper. Not a great combo.
    - Productive despite deficiencies.
    - Runs the floor really well, fits into our scheme.

    The numbers:
    17.9 points, 8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.1 blocks, 2.8 turnovers, 30.8 mpg
    Shooting splits: 52.8/9.1/55 (FG%/3PT%/FT%)

    Overall it looks like what you see in that video is pretty much what we'd be getting. He's a worker and a smart player and it's easy to see why the Lakers would be interested in having him interview. Late in the draft, I think productive, multi-year college players makes a lot of sense. Most teams draft based purely on potential, but the kid who played multiple years in college and developed more skills might actually like basketball more and has already proven he's dedicated to the craft. I'd be fine taking him with the 47th pick.

    While teams are drafting for potential, solid college players who stayed 3 or 4 years tend to slide and make for solid pickups in the 2nd round. I'm a big fan of targeting these guys. They may be perceived to have lower ceilings but you can net some solid role players. Last 10 drafts this list includes Draymond, Parsons, IT, Khris Middleton, Crabbe, Jordan Clarkson, Brogdon and lesser-exciting but quality role players like Kyle O'Quinn, Mike Scott, Jon Leuer, Lavoy Allen, Mike Muscala, Joe Harris, Spencer Dinwiddie, Dwight Powell, Montrezl Harrell, Richaun Holmes, Josh Richardson, Chalmers, Mbah a Moute, Meeks, Danny Green and Dillon Brooks.

    When Ethan Happ was brought up and you said "Late in the draft", I more so zoned in on 2nd round examples for my post. One guy I like who fits that bill at the #47 pick, if he is there, is Jevon Carter from WVU. As a UMich fan though, my hope is for Moritz Wagner to be available there.


    But certainly late 1st rounders like those three fit the bill as well.

    I'm saying that based off of where @vasashi17 said Happ has been placing in mock drafts which is towards the end of the 2nd round and considering we have the 25th pick and the 47th, I'm leaning towards taking him more with that 47th pick. There's better options at #25.

    Definitely better options at #25 than Happ.

    I continue to be a big fan of Jontay Porter in that slot.
    I also like Bates-Diop and Caleb Martin.

    For me the answer is Gary Trent Jr. who has inexplicably dropped off in most mocks. I have no idea why. Fairly athletic, can shoot the ball. I don't get it.

    It makes me feel old when Gary Trent Jr. is just another player where I can say: "I remember when his dad played in the league". I'm not old enough to have applied that to say Luke Walton or Larry Nance Jr. but it's applicable to say Glenn Robinson or Arvydas Sabonis.

    The most interesting part of this video was... the Metallica song. First time I’ve ever seen a highlight video without rap/hip-hop, r&b, or some stock background music that sounds kind of like background dance type. Incredibly weird to see a highlight video with that somber/slow build type of music. As for the player, hey, someone I’m actually somewhat familiar with. Wouldn’t be a bad pick at all in the late 40’s.
