I just looked it up, it was his brother who went into cardiac arrest in high school.

I'm guessing he just looked uninspiring in workouts. I think he's got young Luol Deng athleticism and skill set.

Does he have young Luol Deng enthusiasm and work ethic?

Porter was the biggest steal of the draft. Guess time will tell but usually 14th picks don't turn into anything special.

Porter is a great gamble to take. He is a top 5 talent for sure. Even top 3 talent on many guys list.

I actually like that we are giving Newman a look. Big talent coming out of high school who struggled a bit but pulled it altogether once he got to Kansas.

i was never totally sold on him as a top guy (so skinny, not as fluid as kd), and that surgery is pretty scary. i know someone who's had it.

that said, by the time pick 11 or so came around, it started becoming worth the risk.

Any back injury in a contact sport like bball, is a huge red flag. Nerve damage is non regenerative. You're stuck with it and it can't be corrected...just managed.

I haven't looked into Porter's medical history, but if it is nerve root related, I wish him the best...I'm just not as hopeful as Denver is.

Also forget about Woj bombs...Woj just torpedoed a draft day deal. I guess Woj didn't give a f*** about that media embargo his own employer put in place...

So our draft was not what I expected. Never once heard about our 39th pick. But I trust our scouts. I’m also glad we picked up two shooters. Shooting is by far our biggest need.

Time to dust off that old Slava, “Ball is round” quote.

Bonga kind of floated around as a name the last year or two. Really unique body type and he started out as a small guard so he took a lot of his guard skills with him as he exploded upward. I don't know if he's an NBA player, but he's a quality draft and stash.

Still weird to trade for that pick though.

Yeah that Bonga trade is a head scratcher. Seems like a guy that might have been available to sign as an undrafted FA.

I actually found the real reason why Diop Dropped.

He had surgery for a stress fracture in his leg in 2017. Guess scouts aren't a fan of what probably was a non contact injury.

I think he was going to get drafted in this draft, but you could have probably switched the picks and gotten Mykhailiuk there or even just bought a 2nd rounder maybe instead of giving one up. Then again, Gary Trent was traded in the 2nd for two 2nds, so maybe it was a good deal.

the only thing i thought mgmt didnt get right was trading up....that was also my initial thought when they got 39th, they would try to trade out of 25th or up from it

I always forget about those “draft, stash and trash” picks. Do they ever turn up in the NBA? I remember some years back there was energy around a draft and stash of this Greek ballplayer they termed “Baby Shaq”. Not sure what happened, but not surprised. Maybe when it’s all said and done “draft and stash” is just an NBA strategy to internationalize the league.

I'm overall pretty disappointed in our draft...

Yes, we addressed shooting...but there were some really good talents that we passed up on...I also feel like other teams don't value Wagner the way we did and if we're going to trade the 2018 pick...I don't feel like it's going to help us in deals going forward now...

Would have rather have gone with Robert Williams or Robinson at 25 instead of Wagner who woulda been available at 39 likely...

According to him, he overslept. He's underage so code for "hangover".

Both Williams and Robinson had character issues going in. Williams who has been noted to take plays off and not give his all, and Robinson for decommitting from his school after committing. Neither of these guys bring the effort, IQ, or shooting that Wagner does.

If you look at Wagner's skillset, I could easily see the Warriors snagging him up as a backup 5 in their system. Not a chance he goes to 39 based on what was drafted.

LOL!!!! Yes... please make Ainge look like a complete fool for taking a guy with serious character issues.

Because Ainge gushed about this guy, and ESPN was anointing him a genius. Ainge will try so hard to keep RW on the right path.

Here’s to hoping RW becomes a mixture of herpes and gonorrhea personified for the C Bags. Couldn’t happen to a better franchise!!!
