    Yes...although, I love projections, I want to see results, but I hear your concerns. I think it really depends on his outside shot; and he could be considered a "tweener", but I love his motor and his ability to score and rebound at such an very good rate.

    He's the only guy I liked to watch; and to be frank, I didn't really watch anybody else...

    Yeah, I'm of the belief you always want the player with the elite skill-set. Melton, from my understanding fits that mold defensively...

    and here I am talking about elite skill-sets and that's really hard to find in a guy like Bagley; what does he do that's great? LOL. Either way, back on topic...

    We've now promised Huerter and Robinson and also interested in Simons. Got it.

    I've heard Simons looked great in his workout here, so I wouldn't be surprised.

    it's why i mentioned him as the sacramento mistake pick: i'm not sure what he does that it outstanding. rebound? but not by %.

    i liked the giss (for amateur ornithologists) of simons's videos. i bet he goes before the lakers pick, actually. i've seen hutchinson sliding down some draft boards, which is interesting.

    The Lakers have promised everyone to pick them at 25 lol. Gonna be a loooooooong 25th pick then I guess.

    Fact of the matter is promising anything must be stupid. If Porter Jr. falls, are you gonna pick your promised player?

    The only guy I would give a promise to is my #1 choice overall. If you are my number 2 choice but my #1 is available, you are out. Simple as that.

    So the Lakers can promise someone to pick them with the caveat that nobody ahead of him on their board would be available.

    I almost agree with this. Outside of Ayton and Bamba, I'm not sure who else to me is wildly a better prospect than the rest. DraftExpress LOVES Doncic, but I don't. Some of the best players in this draft have future 10-12 year careers as role players which is great, but I don't see any of them really breaking out as stars like the last draft.

    That's why when I'm seeing all of these SG/SF types in the late 1st, I don't mind waiting that out and nabbing a couple guys in the 2nd who could easily be as good. I'm not eager to burn a lottery pick on Zhaire Smith if I can get Jacob Evans and Mo Wagner later. It's not that Zhaire Smith doesn't have great potential, but if 85% of these guys have role player potential, why am I paying more for mine?

    You mean for us? We're in a weird position since we can't take on salary. I'd say there's a solid opportunity for us to shed Deng right now, but the price is increasing with all this "trade down" talk and talk of teams willing to take on salary.

    Hell that might be why all this trade down talk is happening.

    Draft Picks: 25, 47

    Needs: Shooting, financial flexibility

    Key free agents: Brook Lopez, Isaiah Thomas, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Julius Randle (restricted)

    It’s safe to say the Lakers will at least be in the mix to sign LeBron James and Paul George, and they presently have less than $40 million on the books for next season and can be serious players in free agency regardless. The only blight on their cap sheet is Luol Deng’s contract, which runs them $18 million each of the next two years for a player with next-to-no utility at this stage of his career. There have been a lot of rumors surrounding what they’ll do in the draft, with some chatter about them trying to move up from No. 25.

    Multiple league sources believe the Lakers are the team that guaranteed Maryland’s Kevin Huerter at No. 25, but consensus seems to be he won’t fall that far. It’s possible that if they do move up, they could be targeting him and looking to get into the teens. It’s still possible they choose to move off of No. 25 if Huerter is indeed off the table, and in that case, they could try and package it with Deng’s contract to maximize their cap space and maintain absolute peak flexibility. It’s unlikely the Lakers are beholden to much of anything as they await free agency.
