Dodgers still need one primetime pitcher in the playoffs. I do not trust mccarthy or wood or maeda or ryu or anyone other than Kershaw and he is hit and miss.

I've stayed out of the pitcher battle so far because, well to be honest, no one is really listening to the other side. That being said, I get we need a reliable #2 guy but that isn't the reason we lost last year. We lost last year and the year before that because our lineup couldn't get timely hits. I don't know the stats but I believe last 2 playoffs we have left a boat load of players in scoring position. We failed to get runs when we had a chance instead putting pressure on the pitchers. That has been the issue the last few seasons. Even back when we had Kershaw and Grienke we couldn't put the runs up we needed. Yes, we need more reliable pitchers but we should be cashing in more than we have been over the past few seasons as well.

Very true. Timely hits are essential in the playoffs and almost just as important than prime pitching. I have a feeling about this team I haven't had for a while. The malcontents aren't there. Even Puig isn't one. Dodgers stuck to their guns and didn't lose Seager and Bellinger to high priced slobs.

If the Dodgers do not trade for a #2, then the Dodgers just need Wood or Maeda or whomever to pick up the slack after Kershaw. Too much pressure for just one guy. Need a little pressure to go to at least one more pitcher and hopefully these hitters continue this awesome display in the playoffs. I feel like it will. They just look good.

I agree with this completely. We have more than one problem with the roster, but to me the reason I'm upset about the pitching is that it was a completely fixable problem. We can't force guys who typically hit well to come through in the Playoffs. Sometimes you just get guys who don't have it when the time comes. However, we've had the opportunity to fix the pitching and it never happened. I understand the Dodgers are trying to get through with this patchwork staff, but the pitching will eventually bite us in the ***.

Either way, the team is playing well right now. Good to see. Bellinger and Seager are going to be a problem for a long time.

    The kid is for real.

It takes a special talent to turn Seager into a secondary storyline.

I think he heard you, he's tired of the Bellinger hype! He's currently 4 for 4, 3 HR's and a double!

Boom. :No2: Urias hurt despite everyone's best efforts to bring him along super carefully.

Meanwhile Dodgers doing imitation of old Bronx Bombers, Justin Turner flirting with 400 and Alex Wood at 8 - 0 with 1.86 ERA. :Kaream Surprise:

As always f*** the Dodgers that I can't be bandwagon fan(ing) all this excitement and see them on DirecTV.

I think the Dodgers may have completely ruined Urias. A year off with an injury? They should have just let the kid pitch or trade him if they weren't sure. Now he might never be the same and we're still in desperate need of pitching. Way to go management.

I don't love Verlander, but I don't trust any of our pitchers besides Kershaw. I keep seeing all these stats about how low our ERA is and how our patchwork quilt pitching has worked so far, but I'm not interested in it. When we hit the playoffs, we need reliable starting pitching and we've got exactly one reliable starter. Sure Wood is having a great season, but are we really counting on him to match the Nationals starting pitchers? Are we counting on Ryu and Maeda? F***ing Kazmir? McCarthy? Please...

They just need one more front line pitcher for the playoffs. And they would be set.

Trade market is looking rough though. Verlander's ERA is pretty high and I'm not loving his walk numbers either... You're right though. Better starters and they can make a legitimate run. I just don't know where they go to get a better pitcher or two. I feel like I've said this every year and they never come through for me.

I think at this point the plan is for Bellinger to hit home runs every playoff game. If he does, we win. If not, oh well.
