Since it looks like we signed Boogie using Cap Space & not an exemption, does that give us the ability to resign him to a bigger contract after next Season, if he pans out..? Or are we still limited by the Cap & would have to dump players to make it work..?

Living in Kentucky, it'a a birthright to be a Wildcats fan, so I got to watch/root for Boogie in college and I can't put into words how excited I am for him to be a Laker.

I know everyone has heard the rumors about his temper and attitude, they've seen the blow ups here and there during games, but it's all part of his competitive spirit. When he's locked in, he will do anything to win. When he buys in, that's what makes him an elite talent, and I have faith that Coach Vogel will strike that chord with him. Once he's all in on us, like he was with Coach Cal and UK...you won't find a player more competitive, more loyal, and more grateful.

Can't wait to see Big Cuz suit up in the P&G this season. Let's go Lake Show.

If he is 100% healthy, you start him. There is no arguing if he is 100%. Boogie already in the skinniest I have seen him in is career, if he continues to do what he is already doing in time for the next season, and he stays healthy throughout, Lakers may have hit the lottery. Time will tell.

Boogie has undisclosed Illness, and hoping to set up his family after one last contract. Not expected to play more than 10 min a game.

He's only getting 3.5 million while others are making 40 mil. You really expect him to dress the part?

Maybe we can trade KCP to Atlanta where he's from for a 2nd rounder and cap space player (if waives no trade clause) and use that money plus incentive to resign boogie (of course assuming he's back 90-100%

This brings up a good point and sort of a bummer for us because even if we love Cousins and he's a huge fit for us its very unlikely we can keep him next year because the most we can offer him if the full MLE and if he plays the way we're expecting he's going to presumably get offered a lot of money next off-season being one of the best free agents on the market when there isn't a whole lot of competition with being a less talented FA class.

How many teams will have money next year to sign DC? and I'm sure Rob (whom we've doubted) has surprisingly done well after the Kawhi sweepstakes lol. I'm sure we can waive or possibly trade players to have money, plus doesn't the cap go up next year too? When does dengs dead cap officially go away?

Did Deng officially finally go away from the NBA this year?

I'm hoping he won't need Vogel's influence for him to buy-in to our team. I think he wanted to be here pre-Achilles, I get the sense he's excited to be here, and I think Bron and AD will keep him motivated.

In many ways, I think we're understating how big a coup this could end up being. He was arguably one of the top 1 or 2 bigmen in the league when he went down. If we can be anywhere NEAR to his original form, our front line will be devastating.

Those recent photos ... yes, he's motivated. He wants the big payday next year as the head of the 2020 free agent group.

So yes, barring injury, he intends to vastly outplay his contract so he can cash in next year. So we should admire him in a Laker jersey while we can as in all likelihood, it won't last beyond this season.

If he proves to stay healthy and motivated, puts up 20 and 10 in a championship season, I wouldn't mind giving him a 2+1 Player Option contract if he's open to it.

Problem is (for him) at what pay scale? We can only start at 10M first year of MLE.

i know that, but with some creative cap play n booting of kcp i think we rob could find a 20M range starting salary for boogie
