There is a large population of NBA fans that are female, however in my experience on message boards, we see very few female members contributing. We want Lakersball.com to be different. Here at LB we want to be as all inclusive, friendly and inviting as we can for all Lakers fans, and to that end, we as the Staff of LB would like to request all members be mindful of a few things: Please don't negatively refer to players/men as having female qualities as an insult (ie "he's on his period", "it's that time of the month", "he's acting like a girl"). You're not just insulting the player, you're insulting women by associating them to the negative. There are lots of ways to express an insult, so just choose different words. The smilies from CL won't be coming over to LB. Originally I looked for them when building the site and couldn't find them. But it's also been brought to my attention that the main ones everyone used are all guys. The smilies we have now are more gender neutral and I think that is a bit more inviting for all. This isn't a heavy handed rule, but a request to our members to make this site better. To all members, I ask that if you see someone making a comment that you feel is insulting to women, that you just give a gentile reminder to them to please not make such comments. We want our female membership to grow and for LB to be the most all inclusive Lakers site around.
