Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. I love Chandler and what he’s brought, but he can’t score, so how does this help with our slow starts? Also, KCP is garbage, so unless he has one of those rare hot streak nights, he won’t be much more effective than Hart.

For a guy who is THE leader Luke sure seems to delegate leadership a lot and pines for player leadership. Just an observation, it's a constant point he brings up is leadership which of course is necessary to a point but not do to an absence of any actual coaching leadership.

    Per Stein @ NYTimes:

Jeanie ain't going to let Luke go without a worthy replacement already in the fold...you best believe that! So all this in season firing talk is for the birds...

And speaking of extended fingers, Kobs got one for y'all.

    :Shh:

And in related news, Kuz has just been made a permanent starter...

Jeannie should stay in her lane....she handed the teams operation to Magic/Rob, let them do their job. I hate these owners who dont actually allow their executives to do the job they're paid to do.

So true, great post Weezy. And what did it actually do for us? Not much. 8 minutes into the first quarter we had scored a whopping 11 points. Who saw that coming? And our shooting percentage was in the 30%'s. Ugly ball.

Who knows though, maybe it lit a fire under McGee. KCP still sucked. I'd still rather go with Hart as a starter because of his defense.

    Pretty much. She loves Luke.

The compromise is simple: have Luke upgrade his staff.

Yeah the offense looks like **** in no small part to the turmoil of key players in and out of it all season with worst case all the time now missed by Rondo and Bron. Yet they get "open looks" up the butt but don't make a decent % of those shots. No shooters is on Magic and Rob. And no reasonably dominant post players is on them as well with who's no longer here that was here last year. BroLo's your huckleberry even if we want to put all the blame on Mintz for Julius wanting out after last season. Brook said early on he wanted to stay.

Yeah. Honestly despite my criticisms I am still a Luke guy and like him more than the alternatives that seem to be floating around out there. The reality of the injuries we’ve had and the flaws in the roster would generate similar results with anyone on the sidelines.

That said, help your supporters defend you Luke. upgrade your staff man.

    This!

I'm with bfc and the others complaining about our lack of creativity (and options) on offense. You need to expand that a bit, although Rondo does bring up a good point...

You get better assistants and a shooting coach (which Luke surprisingly admonished). Instead of employing your buddies, you bring in guys that are proven and could possibly be angling at your seat one day (I see you Rondo)...but that is what's best for the Lakers.

Still, I maintain it's the defensive end that needs to be our saving grace. You make it tough for a league that values shooting and that's what would set us apart from the rest. Make it extremely uncomfortable for these finesse teams in this soft a** league.

    Bring grimy defense back please!

its sad that you guys still excusing Luke incompetence due to his asst. He's the HC, he hand picks these "a**"sitance.....he obviously doesn't think its on him and his staff for the deficiency of this team. Which is fair, he's not the one out there bricking everything but this crappy system sure isn't helping either, they just pass the ball around on the perimeter in half court sets only to force up a contested shots with couple of secs left on the clock...this was also happening when James was around, he just happens to be really good at doing it as oppose to everyone else

Granted, Luke's not in an enviable position right now. He's going through a very rough patch without Lebron to cover for things. There have been times when I've been impressed with Luke's composure, so I'll give him that. He has the right demeanor and pedigree for a head coach in this league. And he might end up being a good one.

I liked the Luke hire a lot for a young rebuilding team. He has done fairly well in that regard, although not great. He's just done nothing to convince me that he's the guy for a team led by Lebron, shooting for a championship as soon as possible. He doesn't have the experience and I'm not seeing the system in place to get there. I don't think he's Magic and Rob's guy. I think we will have to do very well in this year's playoffs for him to keep his job next season.

In the meantime, most of you are probably right that he won't get fired mid-season. Doesn't sound like Jeannie will put up with that. I do think that he dodged a bullet last night though. His seat would have been very hot indeed had we lost to another 10 win team.
