As much as I love AD the guy is still very much injury proned. I wouldn't trade the farm for him. I would only offer kcp, Ingram, 2 first round picks and zubac.

I think part of why he's been injury prone is because he's been carrying a pathetic team for years both offensively and defensively. Put him into more of a defensive role with less minutes, and I think you'll see a healthy, DPOY candidate that perfectly complements LeBron.

    One can only dream...

If the Lakers do not get anyone this summer, AD the following year is very much a reality.

However, every year Lebron plays, he will slow eventually. He can't play like this for another 5 years. He may end up playing one MAYBE two more years at this elite level. Then, by the time AD would get here, his effectiveness will be limited.

I would trade BI, Zu, KCP and a future 1st for Anthony Davis now.

    Zo, Hart, Bron, AD, McGee

Do, Lance, Svi, Kuz, TC (Also could play Wagner more)

I would do that in an instant, heck I’d do Lonzo, BI and Kuzma for AD in an instant.

Who cares. We don’t need another max free agent. AD added to this team minus the logjam of BI and KCP becomes an instant Contender period. Later for Kawhi and KD and everyone else who may not even come here anyway. You get a sure thing and still not trade away all of our future.

There’s a reason we’d all make that trade and why all of NO is chuckling to themselves.

Cant remember where I saw it, but there were members talking about how much AD stands to leave on the table if he scoffs at NOP's supermax.

AD is in his 7th year and wouldn't be eligible for the 35% max with another team till the summer of '21 or with NOP via the supermax when he can sign next summer and have it kick in during the '20/21 season:

    19/20: 27.1m
    20/21: (1st year of supermax): 41.3m
    21/22: 44.6m
    22/23: 48.2m
    23/24: 52m
    24/25: 56.2m
= 6yrs $269m (can't be traded till summer of '20 per supermax conditions...so LA needs roughly a minimum of 33m in salary or cap space during the summer of '20, if we plan to trade for him after he signs NOP's supermax deal)

If AD bypasses the supermax, uses his player option to opt out of his final year and becomes an UFA in the summer of 2020:

    19/20: 27.1m
    20/21: (1st year of nonbird 30%max) 35.4m
    21/22: 37.2m
    22/23: 39m
    23/24: 41m
    = 5yrs $180m

If AD/Klutch forces a trade next summer and AD opts out to sign new max deal in summer of '20:

    19/20: 27.1m
    20/21: (1st year of bird 30%max) 35.4m
    21/22: 38.2m
    22/23: 41.3m
    23/24: 44.6m
    24/25: 48.2m
    = 6yrs $235m

So as you can see, if he forces a trade he leaves only about 35m on the table.

But I think he takes the trade route and only does a 2yr deal with an option out of the final year to then sign a 35% max deal as a 10+ year vet in '21:

    19/20 (1st yr after trade): 27.1m
20/21 (opts out and signs 2yr bird 30%max deal): 35.4m
21/22 (opts out and signs 5yr bird 35%max deal): 42.4m
    22/23: 45.7m
    23/24: 49.4m
    24/25: 53.3m
    25/26: 57.6m
= 7yrs $311m (and notice even without that 7th year, dude would make $253m over 6yrs which means he only sacrificed 16m by not taking NOP's supermax)

Couple things to note: AD has a 15% trade kicker that can bump his 2019/20 salary by 4.1m to 31.2m. He has the option of waiving it to facilitate a trade and I'm thinking he does that if he's trying to force his way to a preferred destination like LA.

Also the current CBA runs till summer of '24, but there is an option to end it and renegotiate terms during the summer of '23. So I'm assuming any max guys we do sign/trade for next summer could include options for an out within their contracts so that they can sign new deals in 2023.

My feeling is . . . get him here by any means necessary. I'd love to keep one of our young core at least, but you do what you have to do. Right now this is just hope and speculation. But if NOP doesn't make the Finals or close I can see AD bolting. It's all up to him to instigate the move though. We shall see. The fact that he switched to Klutch is highly advantageous to us to put it mildly.

+ whatever he makes in 24/25... which you included in the rest of your analysis. Assuming he still gets paid the total sum goes up to about $220m

And you would be correct sir...

Bottomline: the supermax ain't going to scare him off from bouncing. He had the supermax in his backpocket by making all NBA 2 years running.... yet still fired his agent a year before next summer's supermax offer. Something is obviously going on and I just hope when the time comes, NOP accommodates his request (unless it's trade me to the cbags haha).
