The Kuz is untouchable angle has already been debunked for the most part.

If there was ever truth to it I imagine it had a lot more to do with salary now and down the road than actual ability.

 

@TIME Sorry I reread what I posted and I horribly misphrased it while in a hurry. No wonder this caused so much confusion!

In short, we had two "fools" trying to execute a complex transaction!

I actually have to run soon but I'll try again. Essentially, Rob started initial talks with Demps after Rich Paul made the public announcement. Demps was upset at Rich Paul's attempt to strong arm a small market team so he just kept saying the equivalent of "more" for each offer Rob made. Rob, desperate to keep his job, especially knowing that Magic wanted him gone, kept upping the ante. Finally, when Magic got back into the office and came into the picture, he took over. Demps liked dealing with Magic better, as he's more personable. But essentially, Magic kept doing the same thing, until it got to the godfather offer, which the Pelicans still denied, with no counter. At that point he finally realized what was happening and gave up.

The story of the deadline talks deserves a much deeper dive as there were so many interests/players involved. I'll do that another time, for sure!

Learned today that 3 team deal with PHX-LA-NOLA was almost done but Kurt Rambis insisted PHX send LA back an additional asset. He convinced upper mgmt that we would be perceived as "losing" the deal otherwise, and they agreed. Since then, PHX went out and is no longer in play, but Lakers don't seem to be forcing the 3rd teams they are currently talking to to send them back anything at this point. Looks like they have learned their lesson! Hopefully this bodes well for them.

Sorry Mr. Rambis, I'm going to have to call this one out. This did not happen. PHX has not even been in play yet and I know this because my family friend is best friends with Gerald Bourguet (Phoenix Suns Lead Reporter)...and I asked him if PHX has had any involvement with the 3 team deal and surprisingly, he said the Lakers haven't even called the Suns about anything. So either this didn't happen at all OR Mr. Rambis's sources are lying.

I'm not saying Mr. Rambis's sources in general are NOT legit...but I think in this particular instance regarding PHX...they are not legit.

Sorry @Mr. Rambis didn't mean to put it out there like that because I love everything you post and your sources do seem to be legit for the most part. Just this one I'll say definitely isn't.
