and then there was only one original Laker baby left.....

but he is growing up nicely!!!

***edit*** if you told me to pick only one that would be left after a few years, I'm pretty sure I'd have gotten it wrong.

I don't know if this is where you got it from or if they stole it from you, but here's this:

The big problem is there'll be no depth left.

    For the gymnastics:
Let's say the offer is Ingram, Kuzma, Deng, Zubac, Cavs 1st, Future Laker 1st, 2 Laker 2nd round picks.

We have Davis, Ball, and Hart with cap holds for: 60.6 million in cap space. That's not quite enough for two other max slots, but if George takes a small pay-cut, they could work it out.

    Ball
    Hart
    George
    LeBron
    Davis

    or

    Ball
    George
    Ingram
    LeBron
    Lopez

    ?

There's no way I'm including Ingram AND Kuzma. I understand it's AD, but still, that's just way too much including the draft picks.

Ingram alone is already enough. If anything, I'm including Randle in a sign and trade.

    Something like Ingram, Randle, Deng, Zu, CLE 1st, 2019 2nd, 2020 1st.

Nice to have seriously legit options to improve this offseason.

I hope the new guys can pull it off.

I tend to agree, it's just a hypothetical.

Part of that comes down to how much of a shave George is willing to take to play with LeBron and Anthony Davis.

It’s an interesting 3 Star combo with some remaining youth, but mostly because Davis has remained healthy this year.

I’m a bit uneasy with LLLLL’s mileage and Davis brittle history, but such a change seems like pipe dream after being in lotto hell for a few years

I'd prefer to keep growing our young talent while trying to take in Max talent this summer or next so that we miss the GSW window which is probably going to last another 2-3 years at least.

Because in 4-5 years our young core of Ball, Ingram, Kuz, Hart will be in their full prime. This is going off the notion that basketball players prime years imo are 26-32

I mean, if it really came down to it for all three, I sure they would manage a minor cut together like James, Wade, and Bosh did in Miami. They'd make so much in endorsements off the bat, it'd more than make up for them.

This is my preferred approach as well. Much like we did with Shaq in 1996, we need a star piece first to attract others down the line.

I trade the entire roster except for one of Ingram or Kuzma. New Orleans can have one or the other. I hope they take Kuzma since we wouldn't have Ball anymore and Ingram can handle the ball, but AD is that good.

AD is beyond amazing... when he is healthy.

But I would not trade Zo, BI, or Kuz. For me they are the foundation. Everything else is negotiable.

Wait, so if we were offered AD for Ingram, a couple first and a resigned Randle or something to make salaries work, You wouldn't do it?!?

Ex-Pelinka client, been seen around the gym with our guys. If he wanted to try it, we'd likely let him.

I hope he doesn't though unless he gets cleared by two separate pulmonary specialists. I don't want to see a guy die on the court.

Correct. But New Orleans would not take that offer anyway so it’s just a hypothetical.

    But based on your offer:

AD is great, but the Pels have been stuck in mediocrity WITH him. We would be better over the next several seasons with a blossoming star in BI, a young bull in Randle, and TWO more hidden gems from those firsts like Kuz and Hart.
Only way I consider it is if Paul George makes it a condition of his signing.

Well the original point was that the Lakers make that move for AD in addition to signing LeBron and George.

So you give up Ingram, Kuzma, Zubac, picks, etc. for AD.
    Sign George and LeBron.

You have one kid (probably Ball) left over, AD, George, and LeBron.

    Ball
    George
    LeBron
    Davis
    Lopez

If you could make a move for AD and keep Kuzma and end up with: Ball/George/LeBron/Kuzma/Davis I think that's the best starting lineup in the league. Zero depth, but still.

Ingram will be better than ball, wings are more important than pg in todays league

I tend to agree with this. But I don't have an answer for if I would be willing to trade Ball for a AD type package

I think the difference with us building around AD and the Pelicans though is we are the Lakers in Los Angeles as opposed to the Pelicans in New Orleans, and in that scenario, we have a TON of cap space as to where the Pelicans are capped out for the foreseeable future. They have to overpay mediocre to good players (like Holiday) because the alternative is not resigning him and having to replace him with a minimum salary player. Like Realdeal said, this is under the assumption that Lebron and PG would come. I think if we make that trade and are able to hold onto Kuzma for instance, PG comes regardless. I don't think he could turn down the opportunity to team up with a top 5 player whose game is well suited to his, along with a young stud like Kuzma...and by the way, we're in his hometown of Los Angeles. All of a sudden, the narrative would turn from, "Why would George want to leave a star like Westbrook?" to "How could George turn down the opportunity to play with Anthony Davis on the Lakers?" If you could swing the trade, it also opens up some possibilities like moving Deng and a pick for an ugly contract that has one year remaining. Then you sign only PG, don't stretch that ugle contract and then sign Klay Thompson next offseason. Then the only position left to fill is PG with a team of Davis/Kuzma/George/Klay. Or maybe you sign Kemba Walker instead of Klay and try to figure out the sg spot.
