But Nicki Minaj and Drake will help bring in fans.

It's all about the money. I'm sure we'll hear "sponsored by" soon enough.

The schedule was too tight for that.

Believe it or not , the Rockets fans made an "Excel spreadsheet" keeping track of every journalist intentions for the MVP vote .

Westbrook had a very healthy lead

Especially considering Harden is nowhere near the best player in the league

It has to be Westbrook or Leonard. I wish Leonard didn't get hurt. It would have made the playoffs more interesting.

The latest the should have done this was during the week before the finals, now every award feels like "so what?". Gone is the hype from Harden's and Westbrook's crazy season.

They had a massive amount of time off between games, between series. Why not do it then?

All anyone is focused on now with basketball is the draft.

Oh hey, this still hasn't happened yet.

All I really care about at the moment is summer league and next season.

I can't believe this award show has been moved to this late a date. Who do they think they are, the Oscars? :D Do they really think fans or the media are going to celebrate Westbrook months after he was bounced from the playoffs the same as they would have way back when his season was fresh in our minds? People are thinking about next season right now, they're celebrating Durant as FINALS MVP, they aren't gonna get hyped to look back on last season a few days before 2017 free agency starts. What a stupid idea.

I'm just thankful they didn't pull this crap when Kobe won MVP. I would've been livid.

dantoni did a good job with houston. granted, they built a roster to fit his style. but i think his COY candidacy was more legit than harden's mvp candidacy. he made harden's stuff work as much or morseo than the other way around.

i would have considered scott brooks, a guy with whom i wasn't very impressed in okc but made washington look a lot better with essentially the same pieces it had last year.

fizdale did a decent job keeping things afloat in memphis amidst injuries, too.

anyway, given the track record of COY winners, one might rather not win it. it's often given to freak overachievements which are inevitably subject to regression to the mean, which is then blamed on the coach.
