    MONTHLY BALANCE
Speaking of balance: that’s a good word for LAL’s 2016-17 schedule. Last year, it was heavily tilted towards road games early, and home games late, with 22 of the first 33 away from Los Angeles. This year, it’s 20 road games and 16 at home through Jan. 1, with a home-heavy March (9H, 5A) restoring the balance completely. The Lakers will close the season with 15 of their final 23 games at Staples Center.

^The positive I take out of the write-up... I like how it is set-up for us the last quarter of the schedule.

agreed. We have a tough bunch of games out of the gate, but as the year goes, we start growing with each other, being more familiar with Luke's system, we'll get more home games

No need to this upcoming season... No 24 so we won't be as much of a draw. IF however we are competitive AND entertaining, it would not surprise me if some national tv games are flexed to slot us in.

I'm still sticking to my projection of a bit over thirty wins. A majority of them could come after the All-Star break given how we're home heavy during the last stretch. IF we have a near .500 record by then, I'll be ecstatic. We'll be competitive at least and will pull off some surprises. The key is how we adjust when opponents take us seriously...

The Clippers have 25 nationally televised games, 2nd to the Warriors lol. We only have 15. That's more than I expected we'd have. Pincus thinks we'll start 1-6 and win at most 4 out of our first 10 games.

Realistic projection... Growing pains. A low bar but 4 out of the first 10 would be encouraging.

    Xmas games should be:

Lakers vs Minny - Should probably start showcasing this future rivalry

    Cle vs GSW
    NYK vs CHI
    Spurs vs Thunder
    POR (or Mem) vs Clips

The less I have to hear the national media bag on us the better. I like how many home games we have the second half of the season, hopefully by then things will be clicking and we can get a couple extra wins riding the home crowed.

It's gonna be hard for the competitive side of me not to put too much stock in the wins and loses especially early on. This is basically training season for everybody. That being said, I like the fact they're going against playoff teams early on, give them a taste of real competition. If they can pull at least a couple of wins out of that, I'll be happy. Still hoping for 34 wins.

If we give those teams pause, even better regardless at the outset. Measure themselves early on. Of course, wins would be great.

I like the season opener, Hou is really good test for us to see if the D has improved but overall the 1st 10-15 games of the season are brutal....a lot of playoff teams in there and the non playoffs are all good minus Bk and maybe Suckramento.

The only thing I'll be looking for this year is growth....... I want this team to get stronger as the season goes on..... the numbers of wins and loses won't matter much in a stacked Western conference. They need to be able to show improvement as the season goes on. A lot of people will be focused on the offensive side of the ball but for me I need to see the defensive system and how it plays with or roster..... how the Lakers play on that side of the ball will dictate how much they improve. I think a big part of the GS system is getting stops, rebounds and getting out in transition to hit a team when they are off balance......... I think this year's roster is intriguing on that side of the ball....

This team will also have to get a lot better at setting and playing off of screens and double screens..... a key ingredient to what I expect Luke to bring in his new philosophy of play........

This team is much younger than the NBA average so I don't expect the back to backs and travel to hurt them as much as the last few seasons gone by...... focus will be a bigger issue than fatigue IMO.

As far as opponent break downs..... always hard to predict with the player movement year to year..... chemistry matters more in real life than 2k ball on a video game..... you really don;t get a sense of who's better and who isn't until 25-30 games into a season.

I'm not worried about national games, but the Lakers should be. They can't keep stinking forever while the NBA desperately tries to prop up the Clippers. They're leaking market shares every season.

You know there's kids now who never knew the Lakers dominated the NBA for 30 years? There's kids now who think it's normal that the Clippers are the better team. Balance needs to be restored and the Lakers are going to feel that pressure.

Either way though, I'm just glad to watch the young guys grow for a bit. Hopefully we see the progress we're all expecting.

What do you think about the first 5 games? On the road? How do you see us doing?

Not bad, but not great either. I think if things go perfectly for the Lakers going into the season they can be 3-2 with wins against Utah, Houston, and Atlanta. Unfortunately I could also see them going 0-5 leading into the game against Golden State if our young guys don't show the kind of growth we need.

That's okay though. We shouldn't expect much in the win column, it's all about growth.
