Not worried. If things go that terribly this year, I'll believe we were somehow cursed by some sort of scorned gypsy. And I mean...who cares after that?

I'm not too sure how accurate that TMZ report was. For one thing, virtual globetrotting never updated the new address for AD or even mentioned it but it's also possible the new pad is in addition to it just so he has someplace closer to the practice facilities and Staples. Westlake Village is an 1 1/2 hour drive and if there is traffic forget it.

A lot of ball players have all kinds of family and extended family they put up if not actually living with them too so he could be making use of both places with no problems. Also TMZ is reporting the Bel AIr home as well with no mention of the Westlake pad that they previously reported.

Also renting makes more sense right now the way the market is. He's paying 600k a year to stay in the Bel Air digs and if he bought it and decided to sell it for a nicer place in a year or so he could lose out millions in this market. I just watched a Westlake Village home drop from 85 mil to 59 mil and finally sell for 35 mil just a few days ago. Point is he could buy that Bel Air home for 14mil and have to sell for say 11 in a year or 2 in which case renting was the smart thing. BBall players get burned on switching homes all the time.

This plus renting that bel-air estate (15 mins away from Bron's Brentwood cribS) is just the Bron/Klutch leverage play they used against Gilbert in Cleveland.

Bron doesn't have that pull anymore, so now his apprentice (AD) will do it.

Keep the Lakers competitive and to my liking and I'll stay. Otherwise, I'll use the threat of my opt out clauses to keep getting what I want. I agree with @lakerfan2 in that he's 2 years away next summer from a 35% max bag, so I can see him asking for 2 consecutive 1+1 deals to keep the pressure on, while still allowing the team cap flexibility to give AD title aspirations each year.

Yeah him renting is not a big deal....he already has a spot in Westlake Village, and like others have pointed out...WV is REALLY far from Staples and even further away from the practice facility...plus renting is smarter nowadays especially in LA. Better to have flexibility than to be locked into yet another home in addition to the WV home.

The billionaire selling will survive :p (he owns the Steelers)

If you ever wanted to see a pad easily worth that kind of paper, this is it though. No homes in LA proper like it (can't be, it's 33 acres) to give you an idea, its guest home is an 11,000 sq ft mansion with it's own guest home. Plus there's the farm, the lake, the windmill....this place is less than 1/4 mile from AD's:
