assuming we're able to land a 3rd max guy i'm thinking it might really be kyrie

PG who can shoot the 3? best possible fit. not to mention that'd be the perfect eff you to boston. get AD AND kyrie leaves them for LA

I love Kawhi's game, but I kinda like the idea that Kyrie might be the better fit.

Plus getting Kyrie allows Lebron and AD to play their preferred positions at SF and PF. Kawhi can play SG, but he's better used at SF for his ability to guard the bigger small forwards.

Am I the only one who's scared to death of the possibility of committing max money/years to Kyrie and his knees with the draft capital we just gave up? Also, the dude is kind of a loon, anyway.

Would I be upset if we landed him? Of course not, but it's NO CONTEST between him & Kawhi. Holy crap our front court of Bron/Kawhi/AD would be insane on both ends of the floor...

Is it a scenario where, if they trade the #4 pick the deal is executed on July 6th. If not then it’s finalized on July 30th?

Screw Rondo. If we can somehow get past this rumored timing hurdle now and add Leonard to Bron and AD you do it. Start Caruso if you have to. Has length, is a much better defender and shooter than Rondo and takes care of the ball better. Better still of course to use him coming off the bench. But no Rondo. When Bron has the ball doing his thing, just like Lonzo became .... Rondo becomes then a spot up shooter sitting on the 3 point line. Not one. Not two. Not three. Four or five clanks before he hits one. Because he will keep on shooting due to pride.

Kyrie would be the better fit because the Lakers need a guard who can shoot. However, the Lakers do have a unique situation in that Lebron can handle the ball and is a point forward. But man, Kawhi and AD in their primes and two way players? I have damn sure there will be shooting guards and point guards flocking to the LA to get all tose open shots and back door help on defense.

I am no insider but common sense tells me Pelinka and Griff have a gentleman's agreement that if the scenario goes a certain way, the Pelicans will accommodate. If Kawhi, Kyrie or Butler, indeed, want to sign with the Lakers, look for the trade to finalize on July 30th.

Man, Pels fans and writers crack me the f*** up. They've been s***ting on our guys for MONTHS now...and thye keep saying they "control" our picks for the next "decade"...I'm sorry but is 2025 10 years from now? Also, do they realize that by taking 4th pick from us htis year, it gives us more cap space to go after a max player, so they're actually doing us a favor by taking that off our hands? Also, do they realize that the future picks in the trade are essentially:

2022 unprotected - they will only get our 2021 pick if it lands between 1-8, which is unlikely as we'll be halfway through AD/LeBron (and whoever our 3rd guy is, with Kuzma to boot)
2023 pick swap - they will have to be BETTER than us in order for this to matter at all - and I do NOT see that happening
2024 unprotected pick OR 2025 unprotected pick - they don't get BOTH picks (which seems to be what most pels fans think) and they also aren't getting a pick swap in 2025 (again, lots of pels fans are making this mistake) - also, they could make a mistake deferring the pick (or NOT deferring the pick).

They don't "control" anything. What they need to worry about controlling is getting better than us over the next 6 years...and guess what? If we get a 3rd guy to go with LeBron and AD while still having Kuzma? We're going to be great for the next 5-7 years which means all these picks are going to be late first round picks AND we get to keep our picks in 2020 and 2021 which will help with DEPTH and potentially help us find a few more Kuzma's along the way.

^^ Yeah.. The only way our Picks mean anything is if we somehow suck for the next 4 years.
People want to compare this to how the Nets got fleeced by Boston. Well that Nets Team never succeeded with Pierce & Garnett, so all those future picks were high picks & valuable assets. These Laker picks & swaps will most likely be in the 20's.

actually i think pellies could be s***ting themselves by pushing those picks out so far ahead but it definitely depends on how we draft from here till those picks convert. if our scouts cont to find jems like kuz with late picks n we cont to build competitive team around ad post james, those swaps wont matter. i just hope mgmt doesnt approach picks like the kobe /pau era where we just kept trading it away for nothing

100%. We CANNOT dump picks like we used to. I do think keeping Kuz shows they still value the draft...but getting a top 5 pick doesn't guarantee you success...it's all about your scouting. Look at the Raptors...they didn't have a single top 5 pick on their roster. For perspective...Siakam was in the same draft as Ingram and Jaylen Brown and has arguably the most value out of any of the young players right now from that draft and beyond. FVV was undrafted I believe...OG was a late first round pick...the list goes on. We can find FVV's and OG's and Siakam's in the late first round...I'm fairly confident in that. Heck, for YEARS the spurs got guys in the late first round or even second round and built a championship team off of that. We'll need to follow that model and not give away the 2020 OR 2021 pick (if we keep it, and we likely will). Just NAIL those draft picks like you have been lately and we'll be good.
