Anyone know the significance of the July 30th date? Why does that date allow the Lakers to have the full max number?

Nah July 30 means once we sign the 4th pick in the draft we can't trade said player for 30 days.
The reason why we want to do this is because we want to include the salary in the trade so then we can reach 32.5m in cap space

That's most of what the announcers would talk about when he was playing the regular season in Toronto.
    LoL. True.

If he comes here he'll be the first Asian NBA champion for 2 different franchises.

Stephen A is suggesting Kyrie signs a 2+1 deal. Opt out in year 3 and make the big contract when he hits the 10 year eligibility marker. Get a trophy or two in the meanwhile.

He has heard Butler and Harden have been talking.

What could Butler and Harden be talking about? Capela and Gordon in some sort of sign and trade for Butler? It would have to be a 3-Team deal because Philly has no use for a $16 million backup center (which he would be due to Embiid). That's a lot of moving parts for a sign and trade. And that's assuming 3-team sign and trades are even allowed.

If, IF, we don't sign any big names, would it be a good use of our money to maybe throw a large one year $20 million deal at Julius Randle. He'd be a terrific small-ball center next to AD and Lebron. Granted, he would not help with our shooting problems.

I dunno if I want Julius back. Regardless of shooting, he won't embrace being a role player, just not his persona.

Also he is part of the biggest tanking regimes in Lakers history. I'm just not sure I want to see anyone from our tanking squad on this "new" team. All the memories with our former young core is related to underachieving, tanking or getting hurt.

Only guy I'd take back is Ingram I guess. He was a role model and stepped up after the AD fiasco at the deadline. The only bad thing about him was that he always started slow and then went on a tear late into the season...and he got hurt a lot.

Stephen A also said it's tier 1 or bust for the Knicks. They are not interested in the Butler or Kemba route. So that's a little less competition for either of their services.

Houston is definitely a mess and I'm not sure what the fix is, but I definitely think they're going to try something.

Probably exploratory request from the front office for Harden to put out a feeler to see if Butler would even be interested in Houston before trying to figure out how that could happen (Capela, Gordon, or even CP3).

Speaking of Capela, before the AD trade went through (when we were looking for a 3rd team) , I read that could be a possibility for the 4th. Not sure the logistics or financials to make that work, but he would be a good fit with the kids in NO.

So 4th pick and Eric Gordon to Philly, Capela to Pelicans, Butler (s&t) to Houston. I'm not sure of the legality of it (I know some new stipulations were put in place for s&t's in the last CBA), but I think it works from a strict numbers perspective. And if Mr. Rambis is to be believed, then that trade could allow the Pelicans to wait until the 30th on the deal. It's actually a nice deal for the Pelicans. Capela is only 25 so he's young enough to work with their new young core. Damn. Capela/Zion/Ingram/Ball is actually terrifying to think about in 3 to 4 years.

Butler can opt in like cp3 did. Philly has to play ball, though.
