If we can’t get a good third star, what’s to say that in a few years AD isn’t giving us the same kind of results he was giving NO - 6th to 10th seeds? He had some talent in Jrue and Cousins over that time frame too.

To me AD has the results level of a Pau kind of player. He needs a real 1A to be successful. When we traded for Pau, Kobe was around 30. Lebron is 35, it’s a big difference.

i don't like fully unprotected picks, but...drafting high hasn't really helped us much.

even if there's not a title, what we need is AD/Lebron to drag the lakers back into national prominence. a title would cement it, but contention during the next two years would rebuild the brand and stock the pipeline with future Lebrons and ADs. i had feared that we lost that entirely the last few years.

My stance was always.. As long as we can keep one of Zo, Bi, Kuz or the #4, we do the deal.
Future draft picks can be acquired down the road & may or may not mean anything..
AD to the Lakers with LeBron & keeping Kuz is Everything..

When I heard these (bleep) nuts were comparing this to the Nets/C Bags trade, I about laughed my tongue backwards into my throat.

    We still have:

    LeBron
    Davis
    Kuzma
    Wagner
    Caruso
    Williams
    Bonga

If we still have the near Max we can go after Kawhi, Butler, Klay, Kemba, Middleton, etc. Even DeMarcus might take a pay cut to play again with his boy AD.

We can go after vets like:

Ariza, Seth, Danny Green, Morris twins, McGee.

I know for a fact that we are in championship mode.

Also best part is LeBron had the longest rest ever. He's going to be in amazing shape and I still believe in kuzma, the guy can still be an all Star, he's going to Mamba school and he can work out with AD's lethal shooting coach.

Hopefully those pick swaps were made to have this deal effective July 30.

What are you talking about? I never said I didn’t like his game. I want him on the team and I love his game. I said he just isn’t a max player. You really believe he is on the level of Kawhi, KD, Kyrie, AD, Giannis, etc.? I know it probably sounded like I was hating on him or whatever, but I wasn’t. This was my point to begin with. Don’t know why you’re so defensive about it.

I have continued to think about this trade...

The more I think about it, the more I think we got absolutely screwed. We gave up way too much. We were bidding against...who? Davis walks out on the court and snaps his achilles, then what?

    Boy oh boy...we got AD.

But wow, the COST might be a little too much for my liking.

I get it if the Pelicans had multiple bidders at the table...but they didn't. The C Bags were never a threat and them refusing to give up tatum doesn't mean we go and give them 3 first round picks and 2 pick swaps WHEN LEBRON HAS RETIRED!

We bid against ourselves once again...so now we better win a championship or this is going to absolutely destroy us in the future.

Luckily, AD is only 26. That third superstar is going to be key this summer. I would do unspeakable things to make sure that third guy is kawhi...he's only 27 and AD is 26....if they are our future for the next 5 years? Those picks will not matter. Kawhi needs to be our top target and I go HARD after him.

Honestly, if I"m the lakers...I wouldn't go after kemba and I'd instead try to run it back with DLO or someone like Brogdon and fill out the roster with whatever money is leftover. I wouldn't blame us if we went after Kemba but he's 30 and he's short idk...it's risky.

For now, I'm happy we got AD. We're back in contention but man, HEALTH is going to be a concern and if AD or LeBron goes down for any period of time,we are FCUKED.

I hate that the Pelicans got so much from us...and all that devaluing of Lonzo/Ingram (and they somehow got Hart too? Why?) actually worked from the media...they only took them on becausee we gave them 3 picks and 2 swaps...Lonzo and Ingram can still be stars in this league!!! Ugh, i wanted to stick it to Pelicans fans and writers who all thought the Lakers players were trash and all thought AD was going to Boston.

Either way, this is a happy day for us...but remains to be seen who will win this trade. But one thing is for sure...this is NOT Nets/C Bags Part 2. Not even close. KG and Pierce were towards the END of their careers. AD hasn't even hit his PRIME yet. FOH WINDHORST.

All before this, I thought Ingram, Ball, Hart (?) and the #4 pick would have been fine... The additional picks probably would not matter much if we can convince competent role players to sign on through free agency for a chance to win a ring.

Maybe there was a stealth okc or Toronto like there have been the past couple years. I’m really bummed to see Lonzo and Ingram go, as I think they’ll be tremendous talents; but I’m gonna lie to myself and pretend we HAD to make this deal. Grab the 3rd max (or two B+ players) and we’re good.

This aspect of the deal can not be overlooked. This is a massive advantage. Better than anything our kids brought to the table by a wide margin. This is game changing for free agents, especially with the Warriors downfall.
