Yeah. I’m pretty much feeling the same way even though I was always okay with trading the young guys.

Let’s keep it civil please guys. And if you can’t, there’s an “ignore” function here for a reason. We can disagree here and be on the positive, the negative, or more middle ground and still have civil arguments. Long offseason yet again, I know, but we’re all fans here and want the Lakers to turn this around.

    Fun parallel universe thought.

If the Lakers “caved” to Indiana’s trade demands when Paul George was demanding out, we would have shipped either the #2 overall pick (end up being Lonzo) or Brandon Ingram to Indiana. Let’s say we agreed to do that and sent #2. At this point in history, we still had D’Angelo and Julius on the roster.

Fast forward 6 months and it’s near the trade deadline, a Kawhi Leonard with a season ending hamstring injury demands a trade from San Antonio to the Lakers. Had we agreed to ship out the entire team Anthony Davis trade style by offering Ingram, D’Angelo and Julius... maybe the Spurs take this because it’s a pretty appealing package for a guy who at the time wasn’t sure if he would return back to his former self.

LeBron then signs in the summer.

Morale of the story, there was a realistic possibility that had the Lakers played their cards differently... this team could have had a squad of PG, Kawhi and LeBron.

Think how different basketball life would be right now lol

Kawhi would be a fool to leave Toronto.

I just don’t believe either team sincerely wanted to trade with us.

Pretty much feel the same about AD but I guess we will see.

He’s such a different guy. No real clue where his head is at.

He isn't coming here, IMO. DeRozan is from Compton; loved Toronto, but he had 2 properties in Tarzana and Vegas. He made it work.

    Kawhi will, too.

I can see him staying but I can still see him leaving. I still just don’t see how Toronto’s a better situation than what he bailed on with the Spurs.

I'm not sure if AD is that type of player tbh. He's like the ultimate robin and Lebron's not really a batman either. Lebron + Kawhi is ideal.

No worries about Balmer hooking him up with Microsoft through back channels to be a spokesman. :giggle:

    Fair enough.

I think the dynamics are different, though.

I’m kinda getting this feeling as well. Kawhi and Toronto seem like a great fit, the only reasons I could see him leaving is if he really doesn’t like Lowry (they don’t seem very chummy) or he wants to go home that badly. If he takes that team to the Finals though he’s a made man there. If he wins them a title or titles, he goes to a different level, he isn’t compared to anyone else, he becomes the first Kawhi for doing something like that, and I could see that being very appealing to a guy who has said he wants to be on the list with the other greatest of all time players.

They ask him about the team, he replies back with "I"... Who cares if he went off his loop or not in (not)answering the question, but while in Toronto, dude pronounces it Istworld and when he comes back home it'll go back to Westworld.

I get that feeling too.. Part of the pitch meeting to him, if not doing it at draft time to get him a better 2nd guy. Or third guy really as good as Siakam has been on offense AND defense.

I would be beyond happy if we just got Kawhi and nothing else that's how good he is. I would then draft Garland.

    Zo
    Kawhi
    Ingram
    LeBron
    McGee

    Garland
    Hart
    Ariza
    Kuz
    Wagner

We would be an amazing defensive juggernaut. Along with our second unit.

I would be content, forget AD

As I said in the NBA playoff thread, I honestly feel like every single win Toronto puts up in this Conference Finals makes it less likely he will leave. If he makes the Finals with the Raptors I don't think he's coming.
