Didn't think this was pertinent...but by parting with CAA (Mintz-Pelinka related) and seeing the manner in how Frank was drafted (Phil-Kurt-Knicks related)...maybe dude ends up here if a 3-4 pick swap occurs.

    Also in Jules related news...

Powell's underrated, but yeah, hard to see him exceeding full mle. Wonder if he just wants years. What's weird is that word was dallas wanted to extend him.

For all these reasons, you can see the attraction to Dallas retaining Powell. And you can see why Powell would be open to such a move. That does not, however, make this "automatic'' or "immediate.'' The financial side of this is that Powell, should he agree to the extension Cuban plans to propose, can get a raise of up to 20 percent in the first new year and then raises of eight percent after that. That arrangement would add up thusly: The $10.3 mil for next year, then $12.36 mil (in 2020-21), then $13.35 mil (in 2021-22) then $14.35 mil (in 2022-23) = $50.3 mil for four years.

    From a Dallas insider

I would love getting Jimmy for this team. Reminds me of the Ron Artest signing. Headcase comes to LA, channels his emotions and wins a ring.

It’s definitely not KD/Kawhi but it’s not a 12:01 Mozgov and he would help the team immensely.

    Lonzo
    Butler
    Ingram
    Lebron
    Mle center (DJ?)

    Or
    Butler,Lebron,AD plus vet ring chasers

Both teams are contenders, especially if KD leaves.

So cLips dreaming big huh? Kawhi wants his own team and wont play with Bron, but will cuddle up with KD, cause he's a good lil "system player". Cool story.

The only way it happens (outside of using assets to trade Gallo into someone else's space) is for the cLips to renounce every RFA and unguaranteed contract they have (yes, even their/your beloved Zubac) and that would leave only the 5 of Lou, Trez, Shai, Shamet and JRob on their books along with a stretched Gallo and incomplete roster charges for 7 spots. That gives them exactly 71.6m in cap space to max out KD/Kawhi (you need 71m in space for those 2).

Remember the Jimmy Butler to the Lakers rumors a few years ago that it was reported that he loves LA and wanted to signed with the Lakers when he was a free agent but couldn't since the Lakers didn't have enough money? With the success he has with the 76ers, do you guys think he still has interest in signing with the Lakers this summer?

so now that klay is missing out on a supermax contract, what does that mean for our chances of signing him via FA? is it now easier/more feasible (affordable) for GS to sign him?

edit: of course KD will play a role here, but as far as financials (ceteris paribus), how does this affect the Lakers Landscape?

I’m not sure I want to give that guy the max.

A true max player on that roster should have taken them to the next round. IMHO.

Hahaha...okay let's look to our FO for a second. Jeanie is in charge...Phil is her ex-fiance and even though Bron was aware of Jeanie's "posse" he still came here. Bron even went back to f***ing Gilbert. Dolan's team is rumored to be in the mix with top free agents. You're slurping down the media's slushee...but they just a bunch of cool strories.

Anyways, I'm riding with the schmuck...

    ...cause clearly Buck doesn't give a f***.

I’d take Butler in a second. You have to get an all-star here, after that you now have more options. If Butler didn’t work out, he’s moveable, all-stars are moveable and you can always get value. DeRozan isn’t anything special but he netted Kawhi. IT landed the C Bags Kyrie, Butler got moved to the Sixers for some decent pieces, Paul George got moved, Marc Gasol got moved, Mike Connelly is likely going to get moved, AD is going to get moved. As long as a star doesn’t get the supermax, contracts like Wall and CP3 they are always movable if it doesn’t work out. Get the star first, any star that is willing to come here and worry about the rest later. Stars rule the league, in hindsight we should have given the #2 and Ingram for George. If the Spurs asked for every asset we had we should have given it for Kawhi.
