Ok I listened to most of it, and I totally get the comparisons to DOOM with the beats, but I just don’t like Earl’s rapping or his voice.

Loved it. The album perfectly captures the essence of Lil Wayne that we've loved over the years. Witty, head-swirling bars and the like.

Was so happy to see him in his element one last time. Even though hip hop is changing, Tune pays homage to his roots on C5.

It's been out for a while but I'm really enjoying Anderson Paak's Oxnard. Didn't think I'd feel alternative hip hop but it's refreshing, especially with all the trap nonsense these days.

Kanye has a new gospel album. God Is is my favorite song on the album. Overall, not his best work, but not his worst either.

I feel like I almost only come to this thread when I feel the need to stan for Kanye lol. I know a lot of us have had some debates about his projects in the past so I am actually curious how some of you feel about this one.

Based on all the negative reactions I’ve read, “Not his best work, but not his worst either” sounds like a glowing endorsement lol. I think that is absolutely a fair take. And it’s a little frustrating seeing all the backlash to this album. I’ve read people meme about how “the crucifixion is now the second worst thing to happen to Jesus”. It’s ridiculous. Such hyperbole, and it really feels like so much of the hate stems from his Trump support. I have my issues with that as well, but come on let’s separate that for a second and stop using that as an excuse to flat out hate this man at every turn.

Overall, I am loving this album so far. I’ve followed his mental struggles and so it’s great to see him find some peace at the moment by converting his ego into a love for Christ. I don’t know how long that will last, but for now he actually seems sincere.

To be clear, I am an atheist but that doesn’t mean I can’t respect a well executed artistic expression of faith. I’m a fan of music. If you can make something that is sonically pleasing and gets me to feel emotion, thumbs up from me. And God Is is a great example of that. Also might be my favorite track on the album. It’s not something I can necessarily relate to, but something I can empathize and almost feel jealous towards. He just pours his soul out on that track.

Eminem dropped a new album today. I'm just getting started on it.

E40 and Too Short have an album together... sort of. Each has 10 songs on a 20 song album. Kinda weird.

Conway has a new one too. Haven't listened yet.

Yeah Kid Cudi’s MOTM3 has been on repeat for me all week since it dropped. It probably means more for long term fans though to appreciate the callbacks to his previous work, empathize with Cudi’s journey through mental health issues over the last decade, etc.

MOTM1 is one of the albums that got me into hip hop and very influential in terms of opening the doors for more emotional vulnerability in rap. Fun fact, arguably the biggest artist in hip hop right now Travis Scott isn’t actually named that; the “Scott” is in tribute of Scott Mescudi (Cudi’s real name).

I gotta check out the new Em. I remember being impressed by the first part of Music To Be Murdered By, but never really went back to it or kept tracks in my rotation. I would expect I might feel the same for Side B, but we’ll see. He’s still one of the most technically proficient rappers in the world, but the production often fails to grab my attention.

I really wish he’d partner with one high end producer for an album and let the producer call the shots, figure out where Eminem’s lyrical prowess fits in best musically and craft a more cohesive sound. Not someone like Dre either, thinking something more outside the box like Madlib and Eminem would be crazy.

If were to compare it to cinema, I think Eminem is the blockbuster actor who is coasting and putting out a lot of inconsistent output. He needs a visionary director to guide him and put out something more serious and well-crafted so people can take him seriously again. Kinda like Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems (haven’t actually seen the movie, just going off what I’ve heard).

Throwback when Dre was getting at these non-west out of town dudes (nothing wrong with that) thinking that it was going to hype up his still non-existent album.

He gathered and threw away talent and a lot of good production. Im not sure if Dre actually produced it, but there is def dre influence and a damn good beat (because that bar was there, after it was known that tito was involved with Dre). Shame that the beat got wasted on a filler/mixtape(non-production album) type song. Still love it tho.

Damn, on this very page there was mention of DOOM and Madlib. Definitely going to be a Madvillainy week.

RIP MF DOOM, man 2020 has been terrible.

Strangely he died in Oct but they didn't announce it until now.

I have some MF Doom albums, but honestly have never listened to them much. I need to pay homage and give him some time today.
