The chemistry could also potentially be much worse considering we’d most likely be at the bottom of the standings after splurging on more Mozgov/Deng type guys after missing out on Lebron.

Yep and here we go with the blaming of the young players and calling them out after the King just missed 17 games and his agency just blew the chemistry of the squad all to hell. We were in strong 4th place and then injuries happened and LeBron reverting to what LeBron always does tactically nuked us.

I was only replying to the statement how terrible this team would be without Bron - it wouldn't be the same team sans Bron, there would be other players on it as well. We would not necessarily be terrible. There's no telling how the team would do but to be precise I'm not saying we would be doing very good either. Knowing Magic and Co. there would be a lot of 1-year rentals with not-so-great quality.

I am pretty sure the chistry would be better than right now though. After the AD fiasco, the atmosphere within the team went down the toilet. I hope they can rebuild it because right now I don't even want to watch this team. I wasn't this disappointed in a Lakers season ever since becoming a fan (97).

But I was told the current FO is great and would make no more Mozdeng type of mistakes. I don't think they would do this bad.

Maybe Bron was a must-do indeed. But I'm getting more and more afraid we will regret signing him for 4 years at USD 40m per. So far he's not done a lot to convince me otherwise.

So Sam, what where your expectations exactly?

Playoffs I imagine...but not necessarily favorites to win it all, right?

Obviously, the playoffs aren't such a certainty anymore, but still 25 games left and 2 games back in the loss column with the opportunity to own the tiebreaker.

    I'll take those odds.

Meanwhile Rob, Magic and Bron ruined what exactly? Were we playoff contenders in recent years? Was team chemistry so amazing (see: DLo) where players wanted every opportunity to stay here (see: Jules)?

Am I disappointed in the performance of this team? Absolutely!

But why are we acting like we shouldn't have gone nuclear on our previous roster when that team didn't prove much of anything.

Jules in Nawlins ain't moving the needle (even before the AD trade demand)
JC/Nance in Cleveland ain't moving that needle either
TBryant is also on a loser in Washington
DLo led his team to 6th in the East...but out West they would be out the playoffs like us.

Unlike the longevity that Denver and the Bucks have had with their core in place for a minute, our team had a roster turnover of 8 players and then it was followed by suspensions and injury...

I know it's coming off like excuses, but the team of yesteryear led to no playoff berths over multiple seasons.... meanwhile this squad has lost some gimmes, but have beaten Denver, Portland, Boston and the dubs even with the developing chemistry issues and the injuries...and are 2 back from making the playoffs still.

We're in a bad place right now, but it could be worse...imagine our team was completely healthy for the entire year and we were still on the outside looking in.

Btw: our 1yr 26m deals for Kcp, 'Do and Lance ain't anything like the 4 yrs 136m deals we gifted MozDeng. And Bron will make 40m in his final player option year only...he doesn't avg 40m over the life of his contract.

Bron hate runs strong around here :giggle: Never liked him to be honest (great player though) but guy needs A TON of credit. He signed with a crappy Lakers team. He didn't held us hostage, sign immediately (while other "stars" didn't even meet with us FFS). All this "AD drama" is just a bunch of BS and the outcome should be different if it wasn't for the petty Pelicans owners. We're a better team with him, no ifs, ands or buts about it.

I am just beyond frustrated right now. Maybe my dislike of Bron is irrational, I don't really give a f*** at this point.

Yes we would be a worse team without him this season. Yes the current state of the team is to a huge extent the result odany injuries and other factors.

That doesn't change a thing about the fact that so far, Bron has proven us haters wrong on none of our fears from before the season.

We may have had very bad seasons the last few years but there were positive signs of improvement. Also, the example of DAR shows sometimes it is worth to just give young guys some time to develop. Who's to say they wouldn't figure things out with just some decent weteran mentors? Maybe not this year but the next? We re in the process of throwing all that out the window with no clear path to contention in the near future.

DAR wasn't traded because of Lebron though. It's not like he tells us to trade Zo and BI for Wade or something.
I agree that we should develop our kids more... but again, that's not on Lebron either.
As for the failed AD trade. We had to jump on that s***, HAD to.

(i hate the fact i have to defend the guy but damn, he can't win with you guys).

Prime Kobe is better than the current 2019 version of LeBron...2012 LeBron is a different story.

    No.

    — OX (Probably)

Although paying a player 7 years past his prime max money sort of looks like what I’m seeing right now.

    Unmotivated
    Not hungry
    Stat hunting
    Eff chemistry
    Selfish
    Narcissistic
    Clueless
    Empty stats

Yeah. A lot of our recent history is being lost right now.

Maginka inherited the literal worst era of Lakers basketball. It’s just gonna take time to right the ship.

LeBron is one of the first things that went right in a long time. This team is in the top 3 for the lottery right now without him.

He can’t be blamed for the mess the franchise is in. Again, all involved need time to get things back right.

if you told me prior to the season that lebron would miss 15-20 games, many of which were of the "winnable" variety, i'd have picked us to miss the playoffs.

    Thank you.

    Not even close.

Great stats, and fantastic player for the first 45 minutes of the game. Freak of Nature? Yes. If you had one pick, are you going with him? Nope.

Agreed, but where is KAJ? Best freaking basketball player to ever do it. Look at the track record - high school, college and NBA. Who the heck is better? Yeah, no one comes close. MJ quit basketball during a stretch of his prime. He also returned against everyone's wishes and looked middling in his later years. Cap was a monster and played 20 straight seasons. Cap destroyed in high school, had the dunk outlawed on him in college and still won all three championships (couldn't play freshman year), got 6 rings in the NBA, all time scoring leader - it just goes on and on and on. MJ finally won after the best competition of the 80s - Showtime Lakers with KAJ, C Bags, Philly, Detroit - got old. Bulls never faced that same level of competition IMO.
