If we didn't have James, I would've done that KP trade here and given up Zo/kcp for that NY pkg....

Are Lonzo and "his camp" under the mistaken belief they have ANY kind of leverage here?

I like Lonzo the player, but the family circus is an old and boring show. If Lavar ends up scuttling an AD trade, he will need to go into witness protection in this town.

Are Houston and NOLA still interested in Pau and Lamar? I think we still have their hearts.

KP will sign a qualifying offer of 4.5m (down from 7.5m, since he didn't achieve starter minute status this year). Signing that QO makes him an expiring 4.5m deal and he can become an unrestricted FA in 2020. The only benefit to Ziggy is that by doing this, he can go to the team of his choice and if he makes an All-Nba team next year, he wouldn't be stuck to a 25%max ceiling... instead it'll be a 30%max.

Lakers: AD, EMoore (salary dump), Frazier
Pels: Kuz, Zu, TJWarren, Oubre, Melton, JJ, pickS
Suns: Zo, Hart, KCP (buyout), FJax, Williams

Call me whatever with the rose colored glasses. But that's made for a real life event and movie all in one. Give them health. Give them the motivation as castoffs and give them one year further with healthy summer training ..... and a good coach .... and look the hell out. As a "fan" who the ring isn't the absolute only thing that was my hope for the Lakers. Lots of us I suppose. But hey at this point I am just along for the ride on the Magic carpet. Think there isn't still a little bit / simmering cauldron of competition for Magic to win this battle for AD right away from Ainge? And then take Kyrie too if that happens? BOOM goes the C Bags for a period not unlike what was forced upon the Lakers by basketball reasons.

Actually he does have a camp. It’s his whole family, and he has to feed them like Alec Baldwin

Eat up Melo, you’re the weakest.

This is a Lakers player revolt. Kuz, "naw not me man I don't want to stay in NO. BI, "ahh maan no I'm not down with NO." Zubac, ":Chewie: nooooo don't like NO." Boom they play the same game and NO afraid to deal AD for the kids who won't stay.

And this is where the Rich Paul angles comes into play for us so well, and why I feel the C Bags won't be inclined to throw an offer quite as expansive as the Lakers would. Without AD signing to Klutch, we wouldn't be in this position.

Even though Boston can't deal for AD now, the Pelicans would still have to do their due diligence and give them a call to see what the initial offer is come this summer, with Boston knowing AD probably won't resign there. Ainge will probably balk, which will lead back to Demps calling Magic back on the day of the deadline, and accepting the offer that was initially on the table.

    Next Thursday's gonna be fun.

The main point is spot on though, Ainge can and will screw you over. Wilbon brought up multiple times today that if the Pelicans like the Lakers offer and think they can field a decent team from it, that they should take it. He said the same thing that article said, WILL Ainge really part with Tatum. He brought up a scenario in which we move on from this, and then come summer time Ainge tells the Pelicans FO, “eh, we went to the Finals without Anthony Davis this season, I don’t know if we need him THAT bad, we’d like him, but not for Tatum”. Who here couldn’t see that happening? You don’t gamble with Ainge, he’s a sneaky a-hole who likes to hoard his draft picks and to give teams the worst deals possible, unless he’s dealing with a former C Bags teammate.
