This could be in the NBA discussion forum, but we are going to discuss our playoff seed in the West and keep an eye on what other Western Conference teams are doing, so I think this is the right place for the topic. Adding a simple schedule here (Eastern times):

    upload_2018-12-9_8-26-45.png

Some analysts thought that we were not a playoff-quality team this year. No young pieces that fit with Bron: read - shooters; Veterans that are simply not good (anymore): Rondo, McGee, Lance... Well, if you ask me, we are proving them wrong. Rondo is a tremendous leader on and off the court (and he will back very soon, since he has been cleared for some practice drills already) and McGee plays like an All-Star. OK, Lance is not amazing, but he does not hurt us in any way, IMO. We now have Chandler, who seems to be a perfect backup center for us.

Right now we are a playoff team, we have depth and are improving our defense. On top of that, if someone was doubting Bron before the season - he still looks amazing. Sure, he does not play much D right now, but he is doing everything else; he is more efficient than ever while playing fewer minutes. This is a recipe for success with him.

So, what's happening with other Western conference teams today?

    1. Portland just lost against San Antonio. They now have 10 losses.
    2. Memphis was #1 team in the West not long ago. They lost against Philadelphia tonight and suddenly find themselves in the 6th place.
    3. The Clippers just lost in Dallas. Not only that, they have lost the #1 spot too.

tl;dr version? This has been a great day for us. Here are the standings:

As you can see, we are finally playing .600 ball, and this is probably Bron's best start ever with a new team. Correct me if I am wrong.

The 14th seeded team is 5 games off the lead. I wonder if that’s ever happened before 23 games into a season.

not doing too bad at all...if only we hadn't choked 2-3 (at least) games away so far this season. then again I'm sure other teams have done the same and I'm just not aware since I don't see their games as often

i know dallas lost to phx, atl, and the knicks (at home)...else they'd basically be in 1st place.

i don't know if i'm encouraged or scared by the fact that we're 1.5 games out of first and 2 games ahead of missing the playoffs. the margin of error is going to be slim.

i think eventually gs will get it together, and eventually, the clippers and memphis should drop out. but i also think houston and utah will rally and make the playoffs, and SA can't be terrible all year as they have the past couple of weeks.

    weird early in the west.

We got Lebron Raymone James . It should be enough to make the playoffs... or to get some help from the league down the stretch to make it if needed

To be fair we are winning the games we are supposed to so far ... except this one , it happens .

Every team can say the same thing about bad losses

SA at home was a bad one, too. but yeah, that was my point: everyone has head-scratching losses. i don't know how to project anything at this point. i think usually, by 20 games in, most of the playoff picture is largely set. i wouldn't be surprise to see a lot of upheaval from the current standings come april.

That's still not even the worst way we lost a game this year. Lebron missing both FTs to seal the game the first time we played the Spurs at home where the Spurs eventually won in OT still sticks with me.

But Lebron has single handily won us games this year so it basically washes out, which is a positive.

I think it's embarrassing how badly we let ourselves dictate so many things in a short amount of time. I get suckered into this myself and I need to stop it.

This team only played together for a month and we were ready to cut 90% of the teams players throats and throw Luke into a fire pit.

You have to let things progress. Especially when you already know there is a history of it. Crazy how we react to this so badly. Need to focus.

I also took my 3.5-year old daughter to that game for her first Laker game experience. Unforgivable.

The West is really weird this season. I'm sure everything will work itself out as the season continues but it could very well end up like that season where 10 West teams had 50+ wins. Which means we need to not lose winnable games, as a team thats still shaky when it comes to execution we need to pad wins against bad teams so that loses against good teams are a little easier to handle.

Think we do end up being a top 4 team. Warriors will be Warriors, Houston will put up wins but they aren't what they were last season. OKC will be there and Portland as well. Denver will be middle of the pack, Grizzlies will be in it. Never count out the Spurs. Dallas and Clippers will come down to Earth at some point, probably same with Kings. Pelicans REALLY can't afford to miss the playoffs per AD. There's also Utah and Minny but who knows what they are up to. Yes I'm rambling at this point.

Memphis has a brutal next 10-15 games so we'll see just how good they really are:

11-12 of those teams I consider really good/will be tough matchups.

    upload_2018-12-3_13-57-50.png

Hoping they fall off a little.
