At this point it is becoming fair to argue that LeBron is an overall better player than Kobe. He doesn't have 5 rings but his stats are so much better that 3 rings do the trick in this case. I also do not feel that he is a stat padder like for example Westbrook.

Ya he is losing in the finals...but would you argue that Jerry West isn't great because he used to lose to the C Bags every year?

LeBron is truly a great player who is playing great for 15 years now. He is not without his flaws, he is not as dazzling as Kobe, not as prolific a scorer and not exactly the most clutch player but he has a significant impact on his teams.

As a Laker fan and a competitor, I want Kobe Bryant over LeBron ever time. Kobe to me is like Jerry Rice: someone that got absolutely everything out of themselves to a maniacal degree and was able to become one of the greatest of all time despite limitations that other greats don't have.

Kobe is not the highest leaper, he's not the strongest, he's not the fastest, he's not the quickest, he just f***ing wanted it more than anyone else. I respect that so much. That's not to say Kobe wasn't gifted physically, obviously he was, but he wasn't Michael Jordan. He wasn't Vince Carter. Hell he certainly wasn't LeBron. And yet after it's all said and done, Kobe has more than earned his spot among the greatest of all time through sheer force of will.

As a basketball fan though, at this point it's a disservice and a gimmick to argue that LeBron James isn't a great player. His sustained level of success is astounding and his ability to positively impact the game at nearly every facet is something I haven't seen since Magic. He can pass, shoot, score, and increasingly he's a respectable shooter. Even if he's been blessed with one of the most athletic bodies that the world has probably ever seen, he's still put in the work to get to where he's gotten. He deserves respect at this point.

I still want Kobe, but that doesn't mean I have to hate LeBron. That mentality is pretty outdated at this point in my opinion, especially since Kobe retired. Kobe's spot among the greats is unquestionable. Let LeBron have his time now too.

Let him have his time in any other thread but the KOBE THREAD

    Good Kobe stuff goes here

    Non Kobe stuff goes.....

    Somewhere else.

But for the record, I don’t know anyone who says LLLLL isn’t a great player and among the all time greats. The only debate I’ve seen is whether he was the GOAT or whether the Lakers should try to sign him. For Both of those questions there are legitimate debatable points for each side.

You mean my post where I specifically said I'd pick Kobe over LeBron?

Or the LeBron thread that you spam Twitter memes in?

You mean the LLLLL thread where I put LLLLL related posts?

This is the holy Kobe thread, so it’s not the best place for long posts NOT related to Kobe.

But in actuality I agree with pretty much your entire post.

There's super fans and then there are stupor fans. @LakersLegacy? More like LakersLoon-I-see. Passing and Teammate Likability overrated? Really? Its a team sport bruh! This ain't golf or matadoring....cut the bull s***!

Kobe's Hermano says hi....cause without the dude, Kobe is still playing with the likes of Kwame/Tierre Brown and Smush Parker as his prime fades into oblivion. Seriously, what a waste of his prime at that. With Shaq/Phil, dude went 3 for 4 in the Finals and went to the Finals 4 out of 5 years. With his hermano, he went to 3 straight Finals and won 2 of them s***s. In between those 2 windows, he had 4 years of his prime absolutely wasted. Why? Cause like some of his stans, Kobe thought passing and teammates were overrated. Kobe became a free agent and waltzed with the likes of the Bulls and cLips till LA decided to move off of Shaq and Phil for him. Later in his 1st year sans Shaq/Phil with Rudy3 stepping down and Hamblen (RIP) stepping in, at the request of Kob, the triangle was reinstated. I'm happy Kobe suddenly became woke, but it did eventually cost him a good portion of his prime.

Not only did Kob do a disservice to himself, he wronged the Lakers and Lakers fans. For all the poo-pooing most of you do on LaBron, dude's never done LA dirty. Meanwhile, Kobe has and y'all praise the guy for it. Gtfoh! Had Kob used passing/teammate likability as his strengths, Shaq/Phil and Kobe probably do a whole lot more than just 4 Finals in 5 years. Meanwhile, you got LaBron going to 7 straight Finals. Yeah, he's 3-4 in those, but Kob is 5-2 and without a Horry "lacky shot" and Metta shower visit, dude could have been 3-4 too. And while we're at, I love Hakeem, but his titles coulda just as easily been a dream, cause if Mike had just batted his eyes at baseball, we're talking his Bulls in 8 straight Finals with a chance to go 8-0.

We can debate this great player vs that great player till the end of time, but don't go from fan to fanatical in the process. Basketball is a team game and those saying otherwise, don't know basketball. Stans need to go humble themselves, cause Kob certainly did, which is why he wanted Phil back and absolutely embraced Pau as a teammate.

I mean there's things LeBron does better than Kobe, but honestly I don't care. If I'm going to battle, I want the guy who wants it more than anyone else. Kobe wanted it more than anyone. Besides, at the top of his game I can't remember anyone who scored the way Kobe did. Scoring isn't the only part of basketball and Kobe wouldn't fit at all with what we're aiming for, but Kobe at his peak was one of the nastiest players I've ever seen. I wish we'd given him better teams from 05-07.

I think you just posted an essay about a post you misread, but I’m not sure. The picture was from his draft profile that showed his alleged strengths and weaknesses before he went pro.

I just shared it because I thought it was entertaining

I literally don’t know where the rest of that came from or if directed to me or if I’m being grouped as “fanatical”

    Amen x 1000

But agreeing with that and preferring Kobe’s killer instinct, scoring acumen, defensive prowess, etc over the-more well rounded game Another guy might play doesn’t mean he isn’t also great.

Sirron: @LakersLegacy posted a loony toon comment about Passing and Liking Teammates as overrated. I addressed that as well as any Kobe stan who thought it was cool to think that way in a team sport. Its up to you, if you consider yourself as part of that group or not.

“Don't really want to talk about the Lakers recent downturn/skid right now.

Instead, let's just take a look back at the Greatest Draft Analysis Ever for, one, #8, Mr. Kobe Bryant. Passing and Liking Teammates are overrated.”

I guess I took that as total sarcasm. Hard to believe anyone would make those comments seriously, but some fans are pretty crazy.

I understand your take better now though, so thanks for clarifying.

And I am a self confessed nut, but I’m not crazy.
