If you're going to troll Deng, all you need to do is post a pick of a treadmill.

right. bkn got their guy, a year later.

it's in both his and dallas's best interest to come to a compromise this year, i think. i'll be surprised if they don't.

If I'm Brooklyn, I still ask for a pick though. Why wouldn't you? Portland is screwed.

And I don't think this has anything to do with Deng (I know you didn't say it, someone else did). I don't think Deng is going anywhere for anything less than two 1sts. Hopefully the Lakers are trying to find a home for Clarkson for a late 1st (San Antonio?) so that they can include it in a deal with Deng going out.

Considering Noel's injury history I would try to get some short term security. Maybe a 4 yr deal with the final yr an option for $60-70mm range

i really think the lakers are going to just eat deng's deal next summer via the stretch waive--provided they can fit the two maxes in (need to check math). that means dumping clarkson for no salary (or simply moving him for expirings at the deadline this year), which may be doable.

anyway, if you get the two maxes, you're going to be operating over the cap for the next few years, so deng's ugly cap hit mostly just hurts the owner's pockets. i supposed it could bite you in the a** if the weird apron rules prevent a trade that could put you over the top, but i'd worry about that later.

4 years, 70 million, team option on 4th year would seem like a compromise. he probably wants 4/90 with a player option and the mavs probably want 3/50 with a team option on year two.

Good, now we have some clarity. At least I don't have to pencil Clarkson in at the backup 1 anymore.

Here's what it'd look like if we waived Deng, traded Clarkson for nothing, and then waived our Bird Rights on Lopez, Randle, Brewer, and KCP:

    Lonzo- 7.5
    Deng (waived)- 7.4
    Ingram- 5.8
    Nance- 2.3
    Kuzma- 1.7
    Hart- 1.7
    Zubac- 1.5
    Cap holds~ 4

    Total~ 32 million dollars

That'd leave us with roughly 68-70 million to spend, maybe a couple extra bucks. LeBron costs you 34 million, Paul George costs you 29 million. That leaves you with 5-7 million to spend to try to convince Lopez, KCP, or Randle to stay on a cheap deal. Maybe they sign a 1+1 deal to retain their rights and get a big extension when we're already over the cap? Is that legal? Or if you can convince LeBron and George to shave off some cash, then you can free up more money to get/keep someone else as well. Have George sign a 2+1 deal at about 25 million so we can get his Bird Rights and take care of him later. Maybe LeBron gives you 4/115 or so which would be a massive 30 million dollar discount (he can more than make up for it off the court), but would free up another 10 million or so to spend.

If you can come back with:
    Lonzo/vet min.
    Ingram/KCP/Hart
    George/Brewer (back on min.)
    LeBron/Nance/Kuzma
    Lopez/Zubac/vet min.

That's a ridiculous team. Is that team worth LeBron giving up 30 million? Is that team worth George giving up 12-15 million or so? I would say it is, but I'm a hopeless Laker fan.

Maybe we still get Clark for the room exception.

Very pleased with the Ennis deal...1-year at the VET MIN...and team option on the 2nd year? Are you kidding me?

So JUST in case Ennis ends up being just as good as he was at the end of last year...we can keep him on the cheap for next season by picking up his team option...I mean...Magic and Rob cleaned up this summer

and we still have our Room Exception...probably can add Clark still.

This is still my hope, but I won't be devastated if we don't land him.

Last I'd heard Clark was looking for 8 million dollars. Nobody has offered that much as most of the league seems to agree that Clark is just an okay player that played for an awesome team.

    Good luck kid.

If Ian Clark is asking for $8M...he'll be hard pressed to find that now.

Who would give him that now? Who has cap room and a need for a guard?

Phoenix makes a lot of sense for him right now since they just lost Knight. Atlanta he might be able to earn minutes.

Random thought but if Kyrie had expressed wanting to be traded sooner maybe the Clippers would have gotten him ... the irony since that pick the Clippers sent to the Cavs ended up being the #1 pick in the Baron Davis deal LOL

CP3 + picks for Kyrie may have worked out.
